Hey JT, when you say: " You don’t have to tune the memory, but by default most DDR4-3200 kits will run with slower timings than the 2666 sticks MSI are using." what do you mean the kits will run with slower timings? I have the 10sf-005us/GS66005 model and want to upgrade the ram from the installed 16GB of ram to 64GB of ram, specifically: Crucial 32GB (x2) Single DDR4 3200 MT/S CL22 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT32G4SFD832A. Thank you!!
yeah apparently it does run cooler but in exchange of fan noise.... in the end I will not buy either since they are not able to run cold and silent on idle/light tasks... sad but apparently I cant have a powerful laptop for work and gaming when I want... and since laptops today have no middle ground I will have to buy something weaker with something like a GeForce MX250/350
Omen 15 is a little better. Here is a new comparison between this two laptops
But I haven't decided yet which I would choose next.
Hello! Thanks for your reply. Hot keyboard during simple tasks is a no go for me because I mostly want to work on the laptop. What model of the omen are you locking at? Doesn't it has the same problem?
I have the 10750h + 2070 maxq with vapor chamber version and the results are about the same. CPU can reach 95-97 and throttles like crazy. At idle I'm seeing 46-50 and the chassis gets pretty warm and uncomfortable just by watching YouTube or doing simple tasks. It's a shame because the display is truly awesome. I'm returning mine and going back to the Omen 15 which I had, definitely not close in build quality and aesthetics but it was powerful and ran cool most of the time
Do you know if during light tasks like using office (word, Excel,...) , watching YouTube or a movie the external temperature stays at low 30s or that is enough to jump to mid 40s?
I returned one last week but it was the 2060 version without vapor champer, any task wold bump the external temperature to 40s and that is horrible when working all day. Wold this version with vampor chamber have the same external temperature in those cases?
Can’t wait to see the 3070 performance!
Hmm. This seems like a huge improvement than their previous laptop
I'm surprised with ac odyssey having such a low 1%. I can maintain constant 30 fps at ultra high with my 3 year old alienware 15 r3.. undervolted of course cus holy cow did it use to melt my laptop. But still surprising
This line of dell gaming laptops has certainly come a long way, espicially compared to my 7577.
Interesting approach from lenovo... Allow more power with very high temp limit in extreme mode (same applies to legion 5 afaik, which got pretty high result while hot in CB20..)
