If you’re traveling to San Antonio this holiday season, chances are good that you want to capture the beauty of the city in photos. After all, Santa won’t be coming to your house if you don’t have any pictures of him there! This list of perfect spots to get your holiday signature san antonio will give you plenty of options to choose from, so all you need to do is show up, snap away and then send those photos home with family and friends. (Also, be sure to stop by our local restaurants where you can find some delicious dishes featuring the flavors of Texas.)

1) The Alamo

A great spot for a family photo is the Alamo. The landmark is a great place to take some photos and walk around while you're there. It's also close enough to other spots, like the River Walk, that you can easily make it back in time for dinner. Just be sure you book your tickets ahead of time and know what time the tour begins so that you can plan accordingly. If you happen to forget your camera, no worries! You'll find photographers on site who will happily snap a few shots for you.

2) The River Walk

The River Walk is a great spot for taking photos with Santa. This is because the path on the River Walk makes it easy for you to get your photo without too many distractions. Not only does this make it easier for you to take a picture of your kids with Santa, but it also makes it easier for photographers who are trying to get that perfect shot. It's located right next to the Alamo so you can do your Christmas shopping after you get your picture taken!

3) San Fernando Cathedral

San Fernando Cathedral is a beautiful historic church, located downtown on the corner of Travis and Main. The cathedral has been standing for over 150 years and is the oldest cathedral in Texas. It's historically significant as well, having served as a convent for nuns during the Mexican-American War and a sanctuary for refugees during the Battle of Bexar.

4) The McNay Art Museum

The McNay Art Museum is a beautiful place to take photos with your family and friends. With the holiday season here, you'll get plenty of chances to snap that perfect photo with the backdrop of gingerbread houses, a white Christmas tree and snow-covered ground.
The museum has an outdoor courtyard that's perfect for pictures when the weather is nice. But be prepared for crowds if you visit during the busy season! Instead, plan your visit on a weekday when there are fewer people around and you can find parking more easily. The museum also offers discounted admission on Tuesdays from 2-5 pm for seniors 60 years or older, children 12 years old and younger, military personnel (active duty or retired), and students with a valid ID.

5) The Witte Museum

The Witte Museum is a wonderful place for families and individuals alike. Not only do they offer a variety of educational programs, but also hands-on science activities like the Tinker Lab and Science Saturdays. The museum also has an extensive dinosaur exhibit that will thrill kids of all ages. They have everything from fossils to full dinosaur skeletons! But our favorite part about the Witte Museum is their Christmas event, A Night Before Christmas. This event features carolers, live animals and live reindeer (yes, you read that correctly!), making it the perfect spot for your holiday photos with Santa!

6) The Japanese Tea Gardens

The Japanese Tea Gardens offers a beautiful and serene backdrop for your holiday photos. The gardens are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, and free for kids 12 and under. Consider booking a photographer (Spanish) onsite before you go; they have experience with photographing people of all backgrounds, not just white folks with the right hair color!

7) The San Antonio Zoo

The San Antonio Zoo has many photographers on site that will take your pictures of you and your family with the reindeer or a beautiful holiday scene. The zoo also offers a variety of packages that range from digital files to framed prints. There are even more photo opportunities available at the Japanese Tea Garden and Botanical Garden. With so many options for the perfect holiday picture, it is difficult not to find one that suits you best!

8) The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, located on the northern edge of downtown San Antonio, is a great place to take your family photo. The park features four Spanish colonial missions: Concepción, San Jose, Espada, and San Juan. A photographer should be able to set you up near a door or window for the perfect shot.
There are also plenty of other places for beautiful photos throughout the city! If you're looking for something more naturalistic and outdoorsy, head over to Brackenridge Park or Hike & Bike Trails at Leon Creek Greenway.

9) The Tower of the Americas

The Tower of the Americas is one of the most recognizable buildings in San Antonio, and for good reason. It's located at HemisFair Park, so it's a perfect spot for some classic holiday shots. You can visit the observation deck and take some breathtaking photos with the skyline of Downtown behind you. There are also several other photographers on site that can take your photo with Santa!

10) Market Square

Market Square is a festive place with tons of holiday lights, a giant Christmas tree and the perfect backdrop for your family photos. Plus, if you're looking for photographers in San Antonio Texas, the Market Square is home to many talented shutterbugs that can help you get those perfect holiday photos that will last through the years.
