Kaaba is the most adored and holy place for Muslims as it is known as the house of Allah. Here are 10 things that most people may not know about the Kaaba.

Kaaba was built Several Times:
It was reconstructed by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Ismail (AS), but it does not look the same as it went through the main construction during the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) era. The previous biggest construction took place in 1996, which changed many stones and made the base even stronger.

Kaaba’s one Window and Two Doors:
Kaaba had a window on the side of it. It also had two doors, one for entrance and the other one for go out. There is one door, however, the other one is black, which could be seen during storms. See the unseen door of Kaaba.

Kaaba used to be Multicolored:
Kaaba was not ever black-clothed; the practice of Black clothing was started by Abbasids, whose household’s preferred color. Previously, Kaaba’s color was Green, Red, and white as well.

Previously Kaaba used to be open to everyone:
Previously Kaaba used to be open for everyone as everyone can enter it, but far along it was closed, and now it is only limited to Saudi Kings, prime ministers, and presidents of the world.

in Kaaba Where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Prayed:
At the inside entrance positioned at the back of the Kaaba, there is a place where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offered his prayers. The area is selected by a different colored marble.

Wooden Columns Support the Roof of the Kaaba:
In the past six wooden columns used to hold up the Kaaba, but now there are only three wooden columns, every 44 centimeters in diameter and 9 meters high. Lamps prepared of copper and silver, hang down from the roof.

It was initially rectangle shaped!
It was initially a rectangle, but when it required reconstruction just a few years before the Prophet (PBUH) received his first revelation, not enough ‘pure’ money – i.e. money that hadn’t been made from betting or prostitution – was available to pay for the bigger, rectangular type. So now it is cubes shaped.

Key Custodians of the Kaaba:
On the takeover of Makkah, the Prophet (PBUH) was given the keys to the Kaaba, and instead of taking it on his own, he give it back to the Osman Ibn Talha (RA) of the Bani Shaiba family. They had been the old-style key custodians of the Kaaba for eras, and the Prophet (PBUH) confirmed them in that role till the end of time.

Kiswa History:
In the early days of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH covered the Kaaba with fabrics and Yemeni clothes. The era of Umar Ibn Al Khattab was secure with Egyptian linen. The first to change the Kiswa twice in one year was Mowaya Ibn Abi Safyan.

Kiswa Manufactured in Makkah Factory:
The Saudi government organizes a factory in Makkah, which is the only producer of the Kaaba covers. They manufacture three types of covers: internal covers, external covers and a special cover for the door of the Kaaba called Al Borquoo’o.
