Lamictal is a medication used to treat seizures. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The instructions for use are on the label of the medication. A doctor will determine the dosage based on your condition and response to it. Often, patients begin treatment with a low dose and gradually increase it every three to four weeks.

About 4% of Lamictal users will experience vaginitis, an inflammation of the vagina. This condition causes pain, itching, and discharge. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately. You should also follow any changes suggested by your doctor to minimize the risk of side effects.

Another common Lamictal side effect is nausea and vomiting. This is usually dose dependent and occurs more often in children than in adults. If you experience vomiting with Lamictal, you may need to take an antiemetic to prevent or reduce it. It is also important to tell your doctor if you develop a reaction to another drug while taking Lamictal.

A rash is also a common side effect of Lamictal. In most cases, this side effect is mild, but in rare cases, it can be life threatening. In such cases, you should immediately stop taking Lamictal. You must also call your doctor immediately or 911 in severe cases.

Other Lamictal Side Effects can occur during the initial stages of treatment. New users may experience side effects due to a lack of neurophysiologic adaptation to the new drug. These side effects may diminish after a longer course of treatment. However, if you are taking Lamictal for a long time, your side effects are more likely to go away.
