How does a MOPA Laser Source work?

Conventionally, nanosecond pulsed fiber lasers based on electrically modulated seed sources and multi-stage power amplifiers are referred to as MOPA laser sources in the industry. As the laser beam causes a chemical reaction on the stainless steel, it engraves each color separately, leaving a superficial permanent mark.

When marking surfaces made of plastic that don't require a lot of melt burns, MOPA lasers can be used. Also, the engravings made with a MOPA laser on dark plastic are easy to see.

It might be an alternative to the pricey UV lasers that are used to engrave plastic.

However, MOPA cannot be considered a less expensive alternative because it is more expensive than the majority of other fiber laser engravers that are capable of excellent plastic engraving.

If your application requires color-engraving metals and black marking anodized aluminum, you only need a MOPA laser engraver.

For most other types of engraving, a standard fiber laser is sufficient.
