macOS Monterey will be the alias of the next Mac operating system. In its annual WWDC keynote, Apple announced the successor to macOS Big Sur. It will be available in beta form for developers soon, and later this year it will become the pre-installed version of macOS.
Universal Control is one of the most notable aspects of macOS Monterey. Users can control iPads or other Macs nearby using the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad on a Mac. Users can control any of the devices with just a single keyboard and mouse. However, it can also allow movement between them all, thanks to drag and drop functionality that works on all devices.
Shortcuts for Mac
Shortcuts from iOS are also available on the Mac with the new macOS Monterey. The automation tool is a more straightforward method than Automator or AppleScript, both of which are now accessible.
Craig Federigh remarked, "This year we're bringing shortcuts to the Mac, where we turn for so much of our creative work. And now you have automated the everyday stuff to achieve peak productivity."
"With the shortcuts editor, you can easily link together a series of actions to design shortcuts for your specific workflows," adding further Craig explained, "We'll weave Shortcuts throughout Mac OS, so you can run them no matter what app is open."
Safari
Safari on macOS Monterey has privacy and performance enhancements, most notably in its new tab display and use system. With seamless syncing across devices, the new tab design puts your active tabs front and centre.
Privacy and iOS compatibility
Its other big changes focus on increasing support for Apple Silicon Macs and bringing new capabilities to Messages. It also brings the Mac up to speed with functionalities that are important in the new iOS 15.
SharePlay is included in this. Users may exchange movies, music, and more while on a FaceTime conversation with friends and colleagues.
Apple has increased the privacy of macOS by allowing users to share this information with the people they want to work with. Apple Mail, like iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, will disable emailers' ability to know when recipients read their emails.
MacOS Monterey's Additional New Features
Maps: Users may enjoy new ways to navigate and explore the natural beauty of the Earth on the Mac's enormous, spectacular display with the new interactive globe in Maps and an amazing, immersive, and detailed city experience.
Live Text recognizes text in photos, such as phone numbers, websites, addresses, and tracking numbers, using on-device machine learning, so users can copy and paste, call, open a website, and instantly access more information. Machine learning is also used by Visual Lookup to assist users in discovering and learning about animals, art, locations, plants, and more in images. These features are available throughout macOS, including in apps such as Photos, Messages, and Safari.
iCloud+ combines everything users love about iCloud with new premium features including Hide My Email, enhanced HomeKit Secure Video support, and iCloud Private Relay, an innovative new internet privacy service.
Accessibility features: Improved Full Keyboard Access and new cursor customization options allow greater versatility when exploring Mac, and new accessibility features enable anyone adds alternate image descriptions direct from Markup.
