E-gaming company reveals Cunningham's Camp headquarters plans
9 May
The "largest single private investment" on the Isle of Man will see an island camp site transform into an e-gaming company's headquarters, developers have said.
Proposals for the construction of new offices, offices for staff and facilities for King Gaming (KG) were developed for the former Cunningham's Camp site.
The project's sponsors have not revealed a price, but they have they have stated that it will create "significant" jobs.
KG director John Lee said the new campus would be "a unique development".
Plans for the complex that would span just two acres (0.8 hectares) were developed by Manx firms Excel Group and Bell Burton Associates (BBA), along with Dutch designers HofmanDujardin.
It would comprise a huge office block and two buildings that would house staff, collaborative work areas and a parkland that is landscaped around the site. The holiday camp was closed in World War Two and has been abandoned since then.
Cunningham's Camp was first opened in the early 20th century. It was used as an internment camp during World War One, and as an operational base for Royal Navy training during World War Two. After that it was sold to the general public in the postwar period.
A spokesperson for the developers claimed that the plan could result in more than 300 jobs and was the largest single private investment ever made on the Isle of Man.

BBA's Brian Butler said many local professionals had worked together on the design of the "fantastic development" which, if approved, would "provide significant investment".
He said that work would be started "immediately" after the plans are approved.
