Baldur's Gate 3 will drop Dungeon Master, but promises mod support
1 min read

Baldur's Gate 3, the upcoming RPG from Larian Studios, will not include the Dungeon Master mode that allowed players to create their own campaigns in previous games in the series. This was revealed by Sven Vinke, head of Larian Studios, in an interview.

According to him, implementing such a system in Baldur's Gate 3 proved to be too difficult a task for the development team. However, Vinke noted that after the release of the game the studio plans to add support for modding and custom modifications. This will allow fans to expand gameplay and create their own content.

Previously, Larian Studios has already implemented similar tools in Divinity: Original Sin 2, where there was a Game Master mode. However, according to Vinke, integrating DM into Baldur's Gate 3 proved to be even more challenging, especially in terms of visual effects.

Despite the lack of Dungeon Master, the developers promise to finalize the game upon release and add modding support. This will allow fans of the series to compensate for the lack of opportunities to create their own content.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on PC on August 3 and on PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2023. The game has already managed to attract the attention of many fans of the cult role-playing series.
