To become a security guard in Ontario, you must complete a security training program. You can choose to train in a classroom or online. If you choose the latter, it is important to ensure that the basic security training includes live interaction with your instructor. Often, this can be done through a web conferencing system like Skype. If you choose to train online, you must have some form of documentation to prove your completion of the course.

Qualifications to become a security guard in Ontario

To be a security guard in Ontario, you must complete a Ministry Approved 40-hour training course, focusing on the materials you need to pass a provincial examination. This training covers a number of topics, and you can complete the course in a classroom setting or first aid and cpr course. If you choose to take the course online, you can complete it at your own pace.

To get a security guard license in Ontario, you must take a course from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS). This training will provide you with the necessary occupational skills, attitudes, and behavioral competencies for a number of job duties. The course will also teach you emergency first aid protocols. Although the course is online, it is recommended that you attend a classroom-based course if you are looking to work in the security industry.

Licensing process

After you have completed the training course, you can apply for a security guard license. The process is based on PSISA guidelines and may take two to three weeks. An online course can speed up the licensing process because you can begin right away and complete the course at your own pace.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have legal residency in Ontario. They must also have no criminal record and must be eligible to work in Canada. During the application process, you must submit two copies of government IDs. You can apply either by mail or online through ServiceOntario. Once you have submitted your application, you will be able to check on it online within two business days.

Flexibility of the program

The Ontario security training program is flexible in many ways. Students can take the program online at any time that suits their schedules, and can complete each module at their own pace. In addition, students can take the exams at a time that is convenient to them. They are not limited to a certain schedule, but can choose to study at home, on their commute, or at a convenient location.

The program provides advanced training in many aspects of the security field. It also includes Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED awareness courses. Students graduate with the skills to protect people, property, and assets. Upon successful completion of the program, they are eligible to sit for the Security Management Certification examination.
