Minecraft - Introduction To Farming

3 min read

Farming constitutes a valuable way to obtain supplies for your Minecraft adventures. Before you assume it's just "go and grow", as you might see on popular game applications There are a few things you should consider.

Plant Farming

First, you'll need to construct a hoe (in survival mode) or find one in the tools tab (in creative mode), then find an area of grass to begin your farm. Right-click to begin. When it is a row of dirt that look like farmland take a seed you've stumbled across - either by destruction of trees and other plants while in survival mode or finding them in the materials tab in creative mode. right-click the area you wish to plant your seed. You will then see very small buds. To help your plants grow naturally, surround the field with a channel of water and the average time for full growth on water is 5-10 minutes. You can play while you wait and return to your plants when you're ready. You can give your plants a boost by using bonemeal (from bones that were discarded from skeletons). Right-click on the plant to apply the bonemeal. Then, voila! Based on the plant's size (e.g. grass vs. tree) It takes anywhere from 1 to 5 clicks to see instant growth.

Once the plant has grown, it can be harvested. To make the fruits fall, you can destroy the plant. Sugarcane, wheat, and pumpkins are all viable to grow. Some plants have fun special characteristics, like you can make a jack-o-lantern from a pumpkin, and wear it on your head!

Mob Farming

Mob farming is more intricate than traditional plant farming. Mob farming isn't about growing plants but rather "growing" enemies that will automatically die and drop items for you. While it sounds like a nightmare it's true that the characters who are "grown" or "spawned" simply collapse and disappear. This leaves behind valuable items such as ender pearls (which you can use to find the end portals) and bonemeal (to train dogs) and string (to create bows and arrows).

First, you must find the right design. This won't be covered here. One strategy that has been proven to be successful is water and cliff. A key element of mob farming is a dark environment, as any dark place in Minecraft generates enemies like zombies and endermen, so keep that in mind as you begin to investigate the complexities of mob farming. You'll need to select a location where you can experience complete darkness.
