What do you do when you upgrade your MMO's servers and end up with a lot of equipment you don't require anymore? If you've said, "Hold the world's geekiest garage sale" then you're definitely right.

Recently Blizzard upgraded its fleet of World of Warcraft servers and has decided that instead of mothballing the older servers they will auction them off and donate the profits to a worthy charity. WOW-SERVERS.CO Auctions will be conducted by eBay and interested parties are able to place bids on the exact server shards that hundreds of thousands of players used for decades.

Each of the auctioned server blades is a fully-integrated unit and will bear the World of Warcraft logo emblazoned across it, and a plaque attached detailing the dates of use for the server and the signatures of the development team. The auction will begin on the 17th of October and will continue until November 14th, when Blizzard auctions the dozens of HP server blades from the p-Class in groups, and the winnings will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital which fights cancer in children and other diseases that affect young kids.

If the idea of owning a piece MMO history appeals to you or if you're looking to find an exciting Christmas present for that WoW-loving friend of yourslook up the auction dates on eBay.
