How to calculate Golf handicap without using a Golf Handicap calculator
2 min read

As a golfer, your first work, other than playing golf, is to record each stroke you make. That's the same reason why you always tend to witness golfers carrying a writing pad and pencil as they stroll through the golf course across the area. Also, as a golfer, you must be aware of the course pars; you can learn this information by going to the pro shop. We have an online free Golf Handicap calculator to do the calculations but still here in this post, we discuss on how to make manual calculation without the use of allcalculator.net's Golf Handicap calculator.

Calculating the score:

It would be best to count all your swings and strokes, including putts. The Handicap is calculated by deducting all of your strokes from the course par. This results in either a positive number, a negative number, or a scratch, which is equivalent to par, depending on the information you collected. A good number of players would carry a positive score with them. To achieve a negative handicap, years of effort and expertise are required.

Calculating the Handicap:

To calculate Handicap, it takes at least five games of golf, each consisting of 18 holes. You shouldn't total more than 20 games while determining your Handicap. Maintain a record of these results. If your total strokes exceed a certain maximum allowed for a particular hole, don't count your strokes; instead, count the allowed maximum.

Calculating the Handicap total:

Add up each of your strokes which is nothing but the maximums. Subtract your average from the course rating, which can be easily identified from the golf pro shop. And last, multiply that figure by 113. We are aware that this is an odd number, but it will always appear when you calculate your Handicap.

Well, this involves a lot of calculations to be made, note down your scores and feed the input to the Golf Handicap calculator, where the handicap course calculator gives a score based on

  • Handicap index
  • Course rating
  • Course slope rating
  • Course par score

The index of the handicap calculator is calculated by feeding round 1 to round 20 games based on a number of hole scores and as per playing condition adjustment.
