New Apps for watchOS 8 surfaced on Apple App Store
2 min read

Apple's developer-focused WWDC 2021 event is just a day ahead, and rumours regarding the company's plans have already begun to surface. Although we know that the Cupertino tech giant will showcase the next generations of its operating systems, including iOS 15, watchOS 8, tvOS 15, and macOS 12, there are still no complete information available.

According to a fresh leak, Apple may be planning to launch new apps for watchOS 8.

The App Store manifest has been updated, according to Developer Khaos Tian, and now includes references to various mystery app packages, including:

  • com.apple.NanoTips
  • com.apple.NanoContacts
  • com.apple.Mind
  • com.apple.findmy.finditems

It's worth noting that "Nano" usually refers to watchOS apps, implying that Tips and Contacts will be launched as standalone apps in watchOS 8, similar to the present iOS app landscape.

Meanwhile, 9to5Mac believes that there have been rumours about Apple working on mental health features in the past, so the third entry could be a specialised app in that realm. Finally, the last entry's identification differs from that of the existing "Find My" app, implying that Apple is planning to release support for finding objects as a separate app. Because the latter two bundle IDs don't include "Nano" in their names, it's logical to say that these two apps will be available on both iOS and watchOS.

In that respect, it is crucial to note that this all just rumor for the time being, and in this gap between June 7 and June 11 we are going to discover more about Apple's plans.
