IELTS speaking test is one of the four tests you have to go through for your IELTS certification examination. The four IELTS exams are Reading exam, Writing exam, Listening exam and Speaking exam. Your IELTS score depends on all these four tests and you need to score equally well in all the four sections in order to achieve your desirable band. Among these four exams, the IELTS speaking test is the most difficult one to crack amongst students as this exam is based on practical tests. If you wish to crack the IELTS speaking test, you need to completely focus on your IELTS learning and IELTS study. Your preparation should be based on the commonly asked IELTS questions and you need to prepare accordingly to secure a high IELTS score.
If you have a grasp on the English vocabulary IELTS speaking exam would be a lot easier for you to crack. The IELTS speaking exam consists of two parts, namely the Cue Card section and the follow-up questions section. Your IELTS learning for this test should include preparing your answers on the commonly asked speaking topics for the Cue Card section as well as to brace yourself for any questions that are tossed at you as a follow-up question in the IELTS speaking part 2 or follow-up questions section. Both the sections of the IELTS speaking test are timed tests. During the Cue Card section, you will be provided with an IELTS speaking topic and you need to speak on this topic within the next 3 minutes. Among those 3 minutes, 1 minute is for you to think and prepare the answer, while the other 2 minutes is for you to practically give that answer. To perform in this section well, you need to practice answering the IELTS questions on speaking topics in the exact format the exam is held.
Your IELTS learning should not end with the IELTS speaking topic questions, you need to prepare well for the IELTS questions that are asked in the follow-up question section as well. Thus your IELTS study should include commonly asked IELTS questions from the speaking topics as well as the follow-up questions. Let us discuss one such IELTS speaking topic and its probable follow-up question in the sections below.
