Love for music was instilled in Dolly by her father. Since childhood, she sang in the church choir, but at the same time she always dreamed of shining on the big stage. Already at a conscious age, Parton wrote songs for other country artists, and released her first album only in 1967, calling it Hello, I'm Dolly. And after some time, Dolly wrote and released the first two super hits - Jolene and I Will Always Love You. But this was not enough for the performer, she dreamed of a wider audience. And in 1977, Dolly released the album Here You Come Again, which made her name known far beyond the southern states of the United States.

Interestingly, when Whitney Houston released a cover version of I Will Always Love You in 1992, Dolly earned at least six million dollars in royalties.

After Parton's popularity on stage, she began to be invited to filming a movie. Her debut took place in the comedy Nine to Five, where she also played Jane Fonda. Later, she also appeared in such films as "Rhinestone", "Speaking Straight", "Hill of Beverly Hills", in the TV series "Hannah Montana" and in many others.

As for her personal life, Parton married at the age of 20 to businessman Carl Thomas Dean, whom she had met for two years before that. For all the time he went out with Dolly only a few times. The couple have no children, but Dolly spent a lot of time raising her younger siblings, and goddaughter Miley Cyrus .

Now Dolly Parton practically does not perform on stage, but lives off royalties. She tries to spend more time with loved ones. In April 2020, Dolly donated one million dollars to the research and development of the Covid-19 vaccine Moderna.
