Producers finally open up about the next James Bond film

The long-awaited news, especially by James Bond fans, has finally arrived. The producer of the James Bond franchise, Barbara Broccoli, gave an idea of when the next film might start shooting. Speaking recently to Deadline, Broccoli gave an indication of when the next Bond film might be in front of the camera. But apparently, the forecast is not very encouraging for fans who want to see the return of 007.

"I think shooting is at least two more years," said Broccoli. This means it's likely that the next Bond release will be at least three years away, given how long it takes to make a complex big-budget action film these days. This difficult time frame of when the next Bond film will be released is of course influenced by several factors, including the major issue of casting Daniel Craig's successor. Craig has bid farewell to his character in "No Time To Die".

But more than that according to Broccoli, the Bond series is undergoing a reinvention and takes time to do. But clearly, the Bond character will not be played by a woman. In 2020 Broccoli seems to have firmly shut down the idea of a female Bond prospect, saying, "He can be of any skin color, but he's a boy."

A similar sentiment was echoed by Craig last year, who said that there was a more appropriate character a woman could play. "Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be parts that are as good as James Bond but for a woman?" he said.

"No Time to Die" which was postponed due to COVID 2021 brought a dramatic end to Craig's Bond era. It went on to become the fourth biggest film of the year, grossing $774 million worldwide. Various speculations also arose about Craig's successor with a number of names sticking out from Rege-Jean Page, Dwayne Johnson, to Henry Cavill.
