Some diets become very well known because they are followed by well-known people, one of them is the “hormonal injections” diet, also called the “pregnancy hormone.” This way of losing weight consists of the injection of the hormone HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), a molecule that is produced precisely during pregnancy and that many doctors use to treat fertility problems.   But it not only consists of injections that make you lose a greater amount of fat, you must also follow a regimen of 500 calories a day for 23 days, a point that experts criticize for being harmful to health since it could cause kidney and cardiovascular problems. In conversation with “Espacio Libre”, Alexander González, a nutritionist, pointed out that HCG diet has become popular recently due to research that says that its frequent administration (whether injectable or in drops) would – – ​​lower the amount of fat.   Regarding this hormone, the specialist indicated that it is present at high levels from conception. "When a woman becomes pregnant, her levels increase rapidly, in fact, pregnancy tests detect it - which is why it can be said that a woman is expecting a baby - and it has been associated with the fact that it would play an important role in the redistribution of fat, “which would have the objective of being able to feed the growing child.”    Regarding its use to lose weight, González said that there is not “sufficient scientific evidence to be able to say that the treatment is effective. In fact, the kilo loss that is seen in most patients, more than due to the hormone, is due to the very low-calorie diet that is associated with their injection."
