The new Ioniq 5 N looks even more futuristic than the standard Ioniq 5 and is one of the most fun cars to drive on a twisty road. While this won't be a factor on our straight runway, the 5 N packs plenty of power for its drag race against the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. Let’s take a closer look at these cars.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is equipped with two electric motors that deliver 650 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque to all four wheels. With no gearbox to slow it down, the launch should be rapid. However, the weight could be a hindrance, as it tips the scales at 2,235 kg. Despite its performance, the Ioniq 5 N is not excessively expensive, with prices starting from £65,000.
In contrast, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S seems like a bit of a dinosaur compared to the futuristic electric car parked next to it, but it’s got plenty of bite. Under the hood is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 585 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed multi-clutch gearbox. The AMG GT is lighter than the Hyundai, weighing in at 2,130 kg. It’s also £100,000 more expensive.
So, which of these cars will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
