Bills Sign Stefon Diggs To Four-Year, $104 Million Extension

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has checked another giant task off his to-do-list.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills have signed superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a four-year contract extension worth $104 million. The deal includes $70 million in guaranteed money.

Diggs has emerged as one of the league’s elite wide receivers since he joined the Bills in 2020. The former Minnesota Vikings’ star was traded to Buffalo ahead of the 2020 Draft for four draft picks, including a first-rounder that Minny wound up using on future star wideout Justin Jefferson.

In his two seasons with the Bills, Diggs racked up 230 receptions for 2,760 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 127 catches and 1,535 yards led the NFL in the 2020 season.

Coming off their second straight AFC East division title, the Bills are the main betting favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl at multiple New York sportsbooks. Live betting sites in the Empire State are also offering risk-free bets to new customers worth as much as $1,100.

At both DraftKings and FanDuel, the Bills are listed as +650 favorites to win Super Bowl 56. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the second-best odds behind the Bills at +700.

Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones Recovered From Neck Injury & “Ready To Go”

A neck injury sidelined New York Giants signal-caller Daniel Jones for the final six games of the 2021 season — all losses for the G-Men.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Jones provided a positive update on his neck injury— indicating there aren’t any more worries.

“Yeah, I'll be cleared and ready to go,” Jones said, via ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

New York commenced offseason workouts on Monday.

2022 is widely viewed as a make-or-break season for Jones, who owns a 12-25 record as a starter through three seasons with 45 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. The Giants hired former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to serve as the new head coach, hoping he’ll be able to turn Jones into a franchise quarterback.

New York holds the No. 5 and No. 7 selections in the 2022 NFL Draft, giving them a prime opportunity to rebuild the supporting cast around Jones.

Early 2022 Season Predictions For Bills, Giants & Jets

2006 marks the last NFL season in which two New York-based NFL teams made the postseason in the same year. That year, both the Jets and Giants qualified as wild card teams.

How will the Giants, Jets and Bills all fare this upcoming season? It’s not too early to offer some predictions.

New York Giants: 5-12, Last In NFC East

If new Giants GM Joe Schoen can hit on his two first-round picks, New York could make some noise in a relatively weak NFC East division.

They also have the fortunes of playing the entire NFC North division this season. The Green Bay Packers will be an ultra-difficult game, but the Giants have a trio of winnable games vs. Minnesota, the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.

Still, there are too many flaws on the Giants roster. Daboll and Schoen were brought in to rebuild this franchise smoothly, and not to transform them into a winner right away. Jones should be better in year one under Daboll, but Giants fans shouldn’t expect a leap to playoff contention in 2022.

New York Jets: 5-12, Last In AFC East

The Jets should improve across the board in 2022. Zach Wilson will rebound after a difficult rookie year, and the defense will have too much talent to finish dead last in both yards and points.

But the Jets will be playing in a crowded AFC conference, in which at least 12 of the 16 teams have a realistic shot at making the postseason. And it doesn’t help playing in an AFC East that featured three teams with winning records in 2021.

Their overall performance and stats should be much better, but a gauntlet of a schedule and division will prevent the Jets from making a significant jump in the win-loss column.

Buffalo Bills: 11-6 Record & Super Bowl 56 Champions

As noted above, the AFC is loaded with playoff hopefuls and title contenders.

But the Bills are coming back with the league’s No. 1 defense in terms of both yards and points allowed, and they added Super Bowl 56 hero Von Miller to the bunch. A healthy Tre’Davious White – who missed the final six games and the entire postseason after suffering a torn ACL — will make a huge difference as well.

Josh Allen is a top-five quarterback in the game, and the offensive line should improve with the addition of stalwart offensive lineman Rodger Saffold. The Bills have too much firepower on both sides of the ball, and it will lead to them hoisting the Super Bowl championship next season.

Buffalo will beat the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling 31-24 contest to claim their first ever Lombardi Trophy.
