Journalist Jason Schreier has reported that The Game Awards 2024 will feature two major announcements that, according to him, “will leave players speechless.” One of these announcements is rumored to be Half-Life 3.
Several sources corroborate this information, including Nima Zeighami, an ex-Apple employee now working on VR technology at Infinite Reality. Zeighami claimed to have heard rumors about this announcement and noted that Gabe Newell, Valve's head, is allegedly set to attend the ceremony. This raises speculation that Newell might personally announce the release of Half-Life 3. For context, the last numbered installment, Half-Life 2, was released over 20 years ago, while the VR title Half-Life: Alyx debuted in March 2020, nearly five years ago.
In addition, other sources suggest that Valve may reveal a new VR headset codenamed Deckard, signaling a significant leap in virtual reality development. Kent Bye, founder of the Voices of VR podcast, has also backed the rumors of potential VR innovations.
