So no doubt when the casting of Gaga was announced as Harley Quinn in "Joker 2" it became quite surprising news. Robbie also commented on the casting. In a recent interview with MTV News, Robbie expressed his excitement over the alternative portrayal of Harley, in part because it shows just how powerful the character is.

"That makes me really happy, because I said from the start that all I wanted was Harley Quinn to be one of those characters," he said. "Like how Macbeth or Batman." According to him, the actors who get the opportunity to play important figures are great people. Like Cate Blanchett who played the late Queen Elizabeth I in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age".

"It's like someone playing Batman, or someone playing Macbeth," he continued. "I felt, in many cases, whether they were female characters, Queen Elizabeth I, I was honored to do so. I was like, 'Wow! Cate Blanchett plays Queen Elizabeth I'." He also felt relieved when he was considered successful in building Harley's character. "It's an honor to build on such a strong enough foundation that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors can play."
