In addition to having strong verbal and quantitative skills, top institutions look for applicants with strong writing abilities. COMPLETE THREE PRACTICE PAPERS.

They claim that the more you practise, the better you will become, so take that to heart. You may get online GRE preparation by looking up the AWA questions and then practising answering as many of them as you can in the allotted thirty minutes. You should prepare yourself as if you were about to take an exam, and then go to work on your assignment. If you have excellent writing skills, you may want to think about bypassing the essay portion of the GRE.

Don't waste time.

The problem essay on the GRE does not provide space for students to articulate opposing viewpoints of a debate. There won't be nearly enough time for either side to present their case. A more moderate approach won't come out as self-assured or direct as one that's more extreme. Students are cautioned by ETS to keep in mind that "readers assess your ability to handle explicit instructions, explain, and argue to support your position on the topic."

EXAMPLES FROM OUTSIDE.

Don't be ambiguous. A claim that is not true may be readily debunked. Arguments based on the "what if?" game may be refuted by inquiring as to whether the event in question will ever take place in the real world. Instead, please include examples such as the following: To illustrate your argument, you may use a story about your uncle Ralph, the man who was an addict to gambling, the War of 1812, Keynesian economics, or anything similar.

Make sure that your examples are relevant to the discussion, but don't stray too far from it.

Personal experience, popular culture, historical events, athletics, literary works, and current affairs are all good examples. If you permit an excessive number of instances, the writing may become unmanageable. Avoid transforming your essay into a history paper or event narrative by using a historical example as an illustration.

Steer clear of using first-person pronouns and making allusions to yourself.

When you are writing an essay, try to avoid writing in the first person. It is unnecessary to use lines like "I believe" since the reader is already aware that the essay is written from your point of view, and the essay itself makes this clear. In the body of the text, first-person pronouns should only be used when offering a personal example.
