First of all, West is a rapper, so it makes sense that his music is what has brought him most of his fortune. Part of this would have come from the sales of his music. However, it should be noted that West has also earned a fair amount from his tours. For example, Forbes has claimed that his Yeezus Tour from 2013 to 2014 contributed double-digit millions to his net worth. Considering it was only one of his seven tours so far, it seems safe to say that West's music has played a pivotal role in earning his fortune, particularly since the rest of his ventures received a significant boost from the fame he gained as actor.

As stated, Kanye West is interested in the fashion industry. In fact, he has combined his endorsements with his interest in the fashion industry by creating fashion lines in cooperation with various prominent companies. For example, there was a partnership with Nike that ended because West claimed that he was not being paid royalties. However, there is a current partnership between West and Adidas, which seems to be working out well because his contract means West will get entire stores for his fashion line. In addition to this, it has been revealed that West is expected to design even more clothes for even more occasions, which will presumably boost his earnings as well.

In addition to this, West has also been involved in various other ventures. For example, he was planning to open several hamburger franchises at one point. However, that particular company did not fare so well, as evidenced by the fact that it ultimately opened far fewer franchises than it had initially advertised before eventually closing the ones it had opened. However, West's other ventures have been more successful. An excellent example is GOOD Music, which is a record label that has released several successful albums by various successful artists since it was founded in 2004 by West in cooperation with Sony BMG. Similarly, West is actually one of the co-owners of Tidal, which is a streaming music service that stands out both because it's artist-owned and because it's meant to combat the injustice of low royalties being paid by streaming services of existing music.

The artists In short, while it would be a stretch to say West has a metaphorical Midas touch, he's nonetheless doing pretty well when it comes to his business ventures, which means they're also presumably contributing a fair amount to his net worth.

That said, it's interesting to note that West is estimated to have a somewhat lower net worth than his wife Kim Kardashian, who is estimated to be around $150 million. Suffice to say, it will be interesting to see how the pair's combined star power translates to more earnings in the future. They've already teamed up to launch their own children's clothing line, which happened in 2017. However, there are plenty of other possibilities for their combined star power, though of course there's no guarantee that the ones they pick will make it exercise at the end. Regardless, it doesn't look like West will stop accumulating his net worth any time soon. Certainly his name has been in the news of late for his ill-advised comments, but to be perfectly honest, there's not much reason to believe he'll be brought down when his earlier comments had no such effect.
