How Do I Change The WiFi Password on The Netgear Router?

When you purchase a new router, it's a good idea to change the default configuration (login credentials and SSID) before using it to connect to the Internet. This will provide better security for your network. This article provides the procedure for how to NETGEAR router login. The Netgear router login procedure is not overly complicated, but following the steps makes it it even simpler.

What Is The Netgear Router Login Password And Username?

If you haven't yet changed your default username or default password for better security, you can log in using the default router admin login. For NETGEAR router login, the username and password combination is admin/admin. Both the username and password are case sensitive, so be careful to avoid any accidental capitalizations or spaces. Check the full default router login chart for admin passwords and usernames to other NETGEAR router setup, such as Linksys and Asus.

If you don’t know How do I retrieve my NETGEAR admin password?, or if you simply can't find the login for your router, you can perform a factory reset. This will reboot the system and replace any set username and password with the factory default login, listed above. To reset the NETGEAR router setup, locate the small reset button on the back of the router. Press and hold the button for a few moments until your router's lights blink.

Step 1

Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router's network. Popular web browsers include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge. Type http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com into your web browser's address bar. Note: You can also type your router's default IP address (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Press Enter or click Search.

Note: Your browser might warn you that the connection is not secure. Verify that the web address you entered is correct and proceed to the NETGEAR router setup window.

Step 2

In the NETGEAR router login window, enter your user name and password. Note: The user name is admin and the default password is password. Entries are case-sensitive. You will be directed to the screen below.

Step 4

To accesses your WiFi SSID and passphrase you can click on either the "Wireless" tab or "Wireless" button highlighted below.

Step 5

You will then be directed to the "Wireless Setup" display. In this display you will be able to set up or change the "Name (SSID)" and "Passphrase" to the "Wireless Network (2.4 GHz b/g/n)" and the "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n/ac)".

Step 6.

Once you have entered the information, you will need to click "Apply" located in the top/middle portion over the screen. Refer to the image below.

Step 7.

Once you click "Apply" a loading screen will appear to indicate the changes are being applied. Refer to the image below.

Step 8.

Once the changes have been applied you will be directed back to the "Wireless Setup" display, from here you can now "Logout". You are now able to use the SSID and Passphrase to accesses your WiFi NETGEAR router setup network.

Step 9.

If you made these changes over your WiFi network you will be kicked off of the WiFi and you will need to log back onto it.
