Battle Temptations

Temptations can easily alter and disrupt the focus of many. Note that it is an external stimulus that greatly affects one’s discipline in the presence of tempting things. Maybe you’re a fan of junk food. Now, imagine that there’s a burger in front of you. What are you going to do about it? The best bet is to limit the presence of such things in your home. Don’t Hesitate to Change Your Routine

It is important to change your normal routine for a more disciplined life. There is no reason to have a routine that helps you accomplish nothing. Basal ganglia, a part of the brain, control one’s emotions and memories. On the other hand, the prefrontal cortex makes decisions. When a certain behavior evolves into a habit, we stop using our prefrontal cortex. As a result, when we try to change this behavior, the basal ganglia resist it. If you honestly want to be more self-disciplined, go for the change. Temporary displease is acceptable for long-term positive effects on one’s life.

 

Schedule Break Periods

Ask me and I’ll tell you how hard it was to fight myself into a daily physical training routine. You can pull off a good routine more easily compared to me. However, you need to give yourself breaks after regular intervals. Trick your mind into believing that you’re doing the same old! But only sometimes. Do not make it a habit. If you’re planning to cut down on weight, reward yourself with a cheat meal once every two weeks. The same goes for the physical training routine. Go to the gym five days a week and put in your maximum. However, take a break for at least one day if you’re not allowing your muscles to rest for two. It is also recommended by physicians.

 

Don’t Be too Hard on Yourself

It is important to not panic if you relapse. There will come times when you will falter and fail to stick to the plan. Remember, imperfection is beautiful. Working hard every day towards excellence is quite hard. And failing to do sometimes is okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself. All you need to do is keep moving forward. When you fail, celebrate it. That’s another way discovered not to fail again. You should watch the movie “Meet the Robinsons”.
