Faith, by definition, is believing in that which is unseen. As Christians, it is the foundation of our religion. But, as you walk through life, facing turmoil, faith feels like an obligation rather than a practice.
It feels like you're stuck in the trenches with nothing but a pick-axe, where the only way toward freedom is by relying on the fact that there is indeed light on the other side. You start off well, motivated, and ambitious. But as your arms tire and the darkness overwhelms you, your faith dwindles like a ship struggling to stay afloat in a storm.
This is the most crucial part of the journey and a test of your resilience in God.
Most would find their spirit broken, succumbing to the hopelessness they see themselves in. To all those who are struggling to keep their ambitions afloat, we are here to help.
Here's how you can persist in faith.
Prayer
Prayer is the bridge that connects us to God. To reinforce our faith, we must develop a bond with Him. Like a loving father, God waits for His children to approach Him. He wants us to seek refuge in Him at times of turmoil and not lose hope.
Prioritize prayer as a part of your daily routine and stick to it. Talk to God about how your day went, your dreams, and your aspirations.
He's always there to listen.
Gratitude
We, as humans, are in constant pursuit of wants and needs. This never-ending cycle can only be broken with a shift in perspective. When faced with adversity, we are quick to look at people around us who are doing well and wallow in self-pity. We wish our lives would become as easy as theirs. And as a result, our faith suffers immensely.
Stop! Take a moment to breath.
Instead of nitpicking what you lack, be grateful for the good God has placed in your life.
How Far You've Come
When we're too focused on the destination and not the journey, we get disheartened when it seems too far away, no matter how much we've powered through. The dreaded feeling of knowing our efforts have gone in vain breaks our spirit. At this point, what do we do?
Take heart, and look back. Reflect on the path you've covered. Look at the person you've become through the hardship. This is what your faith is capable of achieving. So continue to confide in God, Our Father, for He is rooting for you. He wants you to be the best version of yourself.
Faith is a journey, and persisting in it is a practice.
