What Are Design Services, and Which Should You Provide?

As previously said, design services are services that go above and beyond the typical theme, template, or page-builder approach.

Branding, rebranding, logo design, and landing page design are all available. These are the kinds of things that many Custom Website Development might avoid, and that's great.

But if you want to generate more money, provide more value to your clients, and differentiate your Custom Website service from the competition, we'll show you how.

Also, don't be concerned if you aren't a designer or believe you lack the requisite abilities or experience to provide these services.

We will present you with a number of outsourcing choices that will allow you to apply a markup and still make a profit.

As we discuss each service, you'll see that we provide a lot of tools and resources for you to use if you wish to complete the task yourself.

Top 4 Web Design Services You Can Provide (As Voted By Our Members)

Once you've decided to offer these additional Custom Website, the following question is what kind of services you'll provide.

Rather of guessing or repeating what the top Google result says, we decided we'd ask a bunch of experts who know more than anyone because they do this for a living...

Our community of over 50,000 web developers!

Here are the design services that were mentioned most frequently in a recent member discussion:

Redesign of Branding, Visual Identity, Landing Pages, and Lead Generation

Let's take a closer look at each of these design services. You'll discover what each service entails, as well as resources, tools, and outsourcing alternatives for each, as well as what you might charge your clients.

First Web Design Service: Branding

Branding is how a company distinguishes itself from others and what customers identify and associate with it.

You don't need to go above and beyond the essentials to get a brand up and running, especially if it's not a large organisation.

Additional branding components can be added if and when they become important.

What Is the Role of Branding Services?

Based on member community feedback, the branding we're focusing on is simply developing a brand by incorporating a colour palette, picking fonts, and strategically putting a logo or wordmark (we'll discuss logo design separately; see Visual Identity below).

Developing a colour scheme for your client's brand

Adopting a colour palette is critical to a client website's cohesiveness.

If you need help putting together shades for your clients, there are some wonderful internet tools you can use.

Here are a handful of our favourites, all of which are free.

Color pallet instruments:

Coolors allows you to construct palettes quickly and precisely using their colour inspector (RGB bars) or by uploading an image - for both solids and gradients.

They provide a large library of ready-made selections if you like them.

This software is available on iOS and Android, as well as as a Figma plugin and a Chrome extension.

In addition, they include a Contrast Checker and an Artwork Recolor tool (see my test case in the image above).

Colors from Adobe

Adobe Color offers a professional colour wheel tool with three modes: RGB, HSB, and LAB.

A theme can be extracted from an image and saved as a colour palette or gradient.

Another advantage is the availability of accessibility tools, such as the Contrast Checker and Color Blind Safe modes.

Eggradients

Eggradients allows you to choose from a variety of pre-made gradients. If you're seeking for basic palette techniques, these two-color blends can be useful or inspire innovation.

Their colour palette generator allows you to select from a variety of shade gradients.

They also feature a "50 Shades of Color" option, which pulls random tones from that colour family, each with its own hex code.

Website Font Selection

Typography and font selection are critical to the success of a new design.

There are various useful tools for comparing and testing fonts, as well as websites that provide access to a wide range of fonts.

Again, all of these are free options.

Fontpair

Fontpair's website has a library of pre-paired typefaces gathered from throughout the web.

They have a page for suggestions/submissions, and new pairings are added on a weekly basis.

Compare and contrast

Pair & Compare makes it simple to experiment with font pairings.

You can utilise Google or local fonts (shared from your device) and display up to three comparatives on the screen at the same time.

There are numerous editing choices available, including size, weight, colour, line height, and others.

You can also alter the sample text and bookmark typefaces for further testing.

Fonts by Google

With approximately 1500 font families, including changeable fonts and material symbols, Google Fonts is a wonderful resource for finding and utilising fonts.

Custom Website are all free to use, whether commercially or within a commercially produced product (example: a logo or wordmark).
