Imagine A World Without Electric Scooters

(And what you’ll be missing out on…)

Like mushroom that can’t be stopped from sprouting, electric scooters have more than doubled, and in fact, they have become exceedingly popular and widespread in Australia.

They offer a convenient, fun, and eco-friendly way to get around the city. However, not everyone has access to an electric scooter -- yet, and some states and territories still have restrictive or unclear regulations on their use.

One night, I had a dream. I woke up, so tense and I was alarmed.

After breakfast, I slowly remembered my dream the previous night. The thought floated. What if…?

And I involuntarily imagined what it would be like if the electric scooter didn’t come about, or was not invented?

My mind roller-coastered on so many things. Making a mental list, I started to count, and here’s what I realized:

Mearth Cyber Electric Scooter

  1. Imagine missing out on the environmental benefits of electric scooters

One of the main advantages of electric scooters is that they help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing cars and other fossil-fuel vehicles for short trips. According to a study by the University of Queensland, e-scooters can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% compared to cars for short trips. Using fuel-emitting vehicles also contributes to the traffic congestion and air pollution that plague many Australian cities, especially during peak hours.

Did you know that by using an electric scooter, you can contribute to a cleaner and greener Australia, and help mitigate the effects of climate change? So, if you don't have an electric scooter, you miss out on this opportunity to reduce your environmental impact and save money on fuel and maintenance costs.

  1. Imagine missing out on the health benefits of electric scooters

Another advantage of electric scooters is that they help improve one’s physical and mental well-being by encouraging active transportation and outdoor recreation. Electric scooters provide a low-impact exercise that can help to improve cardiovascular health, develop muscle strength, and improve balance.

Another advantage of electric scooters is that they help improve one’s physical and mental well-being by encouraging active transportation and outdoor recreation. Electric scooters provide a low-impact exercise that can help to improve cardiovascular health, develop muscle strength, and achieve one’s balance.

A study done by the University of Sydney shows that e-scooter riders seem to have grown ‘happy’ hormones, are experiencing lower levels of stress and exhibit higher levels of happiness than car drivers.

What’s more, e-scooters do contribute to help improve one’s physical and mental well-being. You get to soak in Vitamin D3, also known as sunshine, breathe in natural Oxygen from the fresh and gentle, morning breeze outdoors. They’re also natural mood enhancers. After each ride, don’t you just feel good and energized?

If you don't have an electric scooter, you will miss out on these good-for-the-body benefits and can be content with a sedentary lifestyle that can lead to various health problems like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and mental disorders.

I myself wouldn’t want to dwell on the possibility of missing out on the joy and excitement of riding an electric scooter, because for me, it does boost my mood and energy levels, just as it is very convenient for me.

  1. Imagine missing out on the economic benefits of electric scooters

A third advantage of electric scooters is that they create new opportunities for businesses, and consumers by expanding the mobility and accessibility of urban areas. Not only do electric scooters help reduce traffic congestion, ease parking problems, and diminish public transport costs by offering a flexible and affordable alternative, but they also boost the local economy by creating new jobs, services, and markets for e-scooter manufacturers, retailers, and operators. Need I elaborate more?

  1. Imagine missing out on the very opportunities for a better, more convenient and affordable mode of transport, and what you’ll be up against and face are more travel challenges and expenses that can mount, just trying to get around the city. Electric vehicle sales in Australia have grown from 1,100 in 2011 to 14,200 in 2021, according to data from Statista, indicating a rising demand in the market primarily for e-scooters, and a spill over to other electric mobility devices.
  1. Imagine missing out on the innovation and growth that electric scooters would have been able to advance in Australia. Electric scooters are not only a great way to get around the city, but also a great way to enjoy life. Depending on these factors like -- one’s perspective and experience, personal preferences and needs, individual situation and goals, distinctive characteristics and hobbies, personal values and aspirations -- one may really learn to appreciate why electric scooters are very beneficial as they actually do offer many advantages:

       A. E-scooters are easy to ride -- they require no effort, no license, no registration, and no insurance.

      B. E-scooters are fun to ride, as they offer a sense of freedom, adventure, and excitement. Yes, they are fast and can go faster, reaching speeds of up to 40 mph, within city and suburb limits, as they can smoothly and smoothly avoid traffic congestion and parking problems.

    C. E-scooters are economical to run, and only costs similar to the electric consumption of a small appliance in terms of electric consumption. They are also low in maintenance costs. If you need a mode of transport that is eco-friendly, produces no noise pollution and minimal air pollution, and can be charged with solar power, electric scooters are more than good, they’re a great alternative mode of transport.

      D. Environmentalists or social activists actively supporting sustainable and equitable mobility are aware that electric scooters are good for them because these rideables help reduce their carbon footprint in the community.

     E. Electric scooters are versatile -- they can be used for commuting, leisure, tourism, or delivery. They can be carried, stored or parked anywhere. They provide an affordable and compact alternative mode of transport for students or young professionals with a limited budget or space. Aside from being affordable, they are compact as compared to cars or bikes.

       F. E-scooters offer a convenient and flexible way to travel short distances, especially for those who live in a rural or remote area where public transport is either scarce or unreliable. Being a low-impact and accessible mode of transport, they are also good for those who may have a disability or a health condition since it’s difficult for them to walk or cycle.

Now, is it just me who values fun, convenience, adventure, and excitement? I asked riders like myself what they think about electric scooters -- if they’re really advantageous. And you know what, as a thrilling and enjoyable way to explore nature’s surroundings, and discovering new places, their monosyllabic response: a big yes!

Beyond doubt, electric scooters have featured many visible and practical advantages for the environment, health, and economy of Australia.

The question is, not everyone has an electric scooter or can use one legally or safely in their area. I say, to those able , capable, and have the desire to experience the manifold benefits of riding an e-scooter, DON’T MISS OUT on having good times you can safely enjoy.
