Jürgen Klopp does not expect to have new recruit Arthur Melo available for Saturday's Merseyside derby at Everton, but welcomed the prospect of added options in attack.

Arthur completed a loan switch from Juventus on transfer deadline day, though Klopp reported on Friday afternoon the new No.29 may not receive international clearance in time for the 12.30pm BST kick-off.

"My information is it will not happen until tomorrow, the international clearance," Klopp said at a press conference. "We all hope he will be fine for Napoli."
Liverpool are set to be boosted by the return of Diogo Jota (hamstring) and Darwin Nunez, the latter eligible for selection again after serving his three-match Premier League suspension.

But Jordan Henderson is ruled out with the issue that forced him off in midweek against Newcastle United, joining Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as midfield options unavailable to Klopp.
The Reds manager revealed: "He [Henderson] is definitely out, he is injured, but the extent I don't know."

He added: "Diogo probably will be in as well, he trained yesterday with the team first time. He will train today.
"I have to make a decision, does it make sense that we involve him already or not? But if, it is the first time we have five attackers – sounds like Christmas!"

On the possibility of Nunez making an immediate return to the XI, Klopp said: "He is in really good shape and if you look at how we came through this now with the last two games winning, we don't see it [his suspension] as a bad thing, the time he was out.
"We used it with him, we tried to give him some extra input physically as well as tactically. He looks really settled now, even more than before, he had a really good last week.

The six Everton players who will miss Liverpool derby - and new signing also doubtful
Everton team news ahead of the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Everton bid for their first win of the 2022-23 Premier League season - and it would be a memorable one if they do so.
The Toffees host rivals Liverpool in the 241st Merseyside derby at Goodison Park tomorrow (12.30 BST).

Everton head into the game as underdogs but Frank Lampard is savouring a maiden derby at Goodison.
The Blues may not have won in the league this term but they're unbeaten in their past three games - following draws against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds United.
Now they prepare to face a Liverpool side who are expected to challenge for the title once again.

Lampard has injury problems in his squad he has to contend with.
The Toffees will be without three centre-backs. Ben Godfrey is out for the long term with a fractured fibula he suffered on the opening day of the season against Chelsea.

The first Merseyside derby of the season takes place at Goodison Park on Saturday, but will Darwin Nunez‘s return from suspension see him go straight into the Liverpool lineup?
The Reds are in better spirits than they were this time last week, after securing their first three points of the season with a 9-0 victory against Bournemouth, before a dramatic win against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for another positive result when his side make the short trip to Goodison Park for the first Merseyside derby of the season on Saturday lunchtime.
His options will be boosted by the return of Nunez, who is back after a three-game suspension, while Joel Matip, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota have all returned to training this week.
So what sort of team should we be expecting to see face Frank Lampard’s side this weekend?

How James Milner can make Liverpool history on derby day at Goodison
The 241st Merseyside derby could see James Milner make history when Liverpool travel to Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.

If he scores, Milner will become the oldest Liverpool scorer in a Merseyside derby. He will be 36 years 242 days, taking the record from Garry McAllister (36 years 112 days in 2001).
The Liverpool midfielder could play the 600th game of his league career. He has made more of those appearances for Liverpool than any other team, the next best being Man City on 147.

Only two players aged 17 have ever appeared for the Reds in a Merseyside derby – Michael Owen in 1997 and Raheem Sterling in 2012.
Could the likes of Stefan Bajcetic or Bobby Clark become the third?
Liverpool have now gone 11 games unbeaten at Everton in the league – a club record (3 wins, 8 draws).

This will be the 241st meeting in all competitions, with 97 Liverpool wins, 67 Everton wins and 76 draws.
It remains the most played derby in the English top division.

In all competitions Liverpool have won more games against Everton (41) at Goodison than they have lost (40), while a win will give them the lead in league games at the ground.
Liverpool won 4-1 here last season, and in the 90 minutes scored as many goals as they had recorded in the previous 7 Goodison encounters.
