Not Taking Advantage of Food Buffs

8 Mistakes Beginners Should Avoid in Tower of Fantasy

One crucial aspect of Tower of Fantasy that players often overlook is the use of food. There’s a variety of powerful foods that can restore your HP and satiety, as well as buff your character for a long duration of time.

One of the best ways to power through the early game is to chow down on Honeyed Fruit Juice. This food gives you 300 Endurance and 12%+3300 HP in healing and is made using common materials (2 Fallen Fruit, 1 Honey, 1 Carbonated Water).

Later on, you’ll want to power up your chosen character with foods that augment their natural strengths. There's food for every character type, such as fire or physical elemental ones, and even defensive ones as well.

The Food and Recipe system can be intimidating to newer players, but once you get it, you’ll find a lot of battles that used to feel hard are suddenly a lot easier.

Swapping Out Weapons Too Often

This is one of the most common mistakes. It takes a significant amount of EXP and Gold to level up your weapons. Then there are the various Weapon Components, which are another time investment altogether. Instead of constantly swapping out weapons, you should focus on getting your favourites up to max level.

That doesn’t mean you should start doing this from level 1, though. The weapons you’ll find at the start of the game aren’t worth grinding levels in. Once you start pulling SSR-grade gear, you can begin seriously considering what weapons you want to put your time and resources into.

Waiting Too Long to Join a Crew

8 Mistakes Beginners Should Avoid in Tower of Fantasy

Some people don’t like gaming with others — and that’s fine! — but you need to join a Crew as soon as the feature becomes available to you.

Joining a Crew gives you access to special Crew Missions, which give you Crew Points. Crew Points are used to obtain important growth items, like Shards and Relics and Omnium Crystals. Being a part of a Crew also means you get to collect Weekly Crew Rewards, which get better and better as your Crew’s level increases, starting at 150 Dark Crystals a week at Crew level 1.

Crew rewards are reset weekly, so it's crucial to join one and contribute daily to maximize the rewards. Missing just a few weeks of Crew Rewards can mean losing out on all sorts of easy loot and hundreds of Dark Crystals.

Speaking of Dark Crystals, don’t make the mistake of…

Burning Dark Crystals on Anything but Limited Banners

If you’re a pure free-to-play gamer, this should be your biggest takeaway from this guide: do not spend Dark Crystals on anything but limited items.

Limited Banners give you a guaranteed SR or higher gacha after 10 pulls and an SSR after 80 pulls. While the drop rates on the higher-tier items aren’t great, the guaranteed SR and SSR make Limited Banners the most consistent way to get powerful gear. Additionally, Limited Banners generally offer a significant drop rate increase for their featured character. For instance, the Lyra Limited Banners had a 50% increased chance of pulling Lyra.

You’ll need Dark Crystals to purchase the Red Nucleuses (for Limited Weapons Banners) and Red Special Vouchers (for Limited Matrix Banners) from the in-game shop for 150 Dark Crystals each. Completing all Weekly Missions gives you 350 Dark Crystals, allowing for 2 Limited Banner Pulls every week and 7 pulls per three weeks.

Wasting Gifts

8 Mistakes Beginners Should Avoid in Tower of Fantasy

Putting gifts into your Simulacrum unlocks hidden character traits, but you need to be careful in picking the right ones to target. Take the time to go through the Simulacrum and figure out which hidden bonus you want to target. For example, Cocoritter has a helpful set of traits that improve her healing capabilities, so if you like playing the support role, you might want to concentrate on giving gifts to her.

Also, each character has one or more preferred Gift Types. One Gift gives a base of 40 Awakening Points, but the character gets 20 extra Awakening Points (AP) for every preferred type your Gift fulfils. Returning to our Cocoritter example, she likes toys, decorations, and rare items. Something like a Plush Toy fulfils all three criteria, giving her an extra 60 AP on top of the 40 base AP. That’s 100 AP for one gift!

Spending Currencies Recklessly

The next mistake you'll want to avoid is wasting your currency. Tower Fantasy has a lot of different currencies, most of which are earned through Gatcha pulls, so you need to be smart with how you use them.

We won’t go into how to best use every currency in the game, since that depends on your play style and preferred characters. Just know that it’s always best to read guides and come up with a plan.

A good rule of thumb is to never spend currencies on a whim. Only buy something that you’ve made plans to buy; that fits with your overall character development goals. Pick up Shards for Relics that matter to you, and don't waste your Training Points on anything other than Gifts until you've maxed out the rapport for the characters you want to level up.

Putting Relic Shards Into Too Many Relics at Once

8 Mistakes Beginners Should Avoid in Tower of Fantasy

When looking through the list of a character’s Relics, it’s easy to be distracted by the shiny descriptions. Many new players will start putting Relic Shards into one Relic then see another they really like and throw Shards into that one.

If you’re doing this, stop right now.

You only get access to a Relic after you’ve given it enough Shards. Not completing a Relic means you’ve effectively wasted those Shards, or at least delayed their usefulness. Focus on one Relic at a time. Once that’s unlocked, you can move on to the next.

Skipping Out on the Daily Bounty

Too many players ignore their daily bounty — don’t let that be you! Sure, the rewards aren’t big but think about it as a long-term investment. In a month or two, you’ll kick yourself for skipping out on all the Gold, EXP, and Gold Nucleuses.

Maximizing your haul from daily bounties is doubly important if you’re a true free-to-play gamer. The only way for you to really enjoy anything past the early game is by taking advantage of any free loot you can get.

You can complete a maximum of 4 Bounty Missions a day. They reset every day at 5 AM, so be sure to finish them before then!

To sum up, Tower of Fantasy is a fun and engaging game, but like any other game, it has its challenges. Beginners may find it overwhelming at first, but by avoiding these 8 mistakes, they can make their gameplay experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Remember to prioritize levelling up your character, strategizing your builds, and communicating effectively with your team. Also, be wary of spending too much on unnecessary items or neglecting your inventory space. Lastly, keep in mind that practice makes perfect, so don't let failures and mistakes discourage you from growing!
