Minecraft Gets Twitch-y Thanks to new Partnership For Integrated Streaming

Twitch and Mojang have teamed up to offer an integrated streaming experience for the indie game Minecraft the two companies announced at MineCon today. Players playing on PC and Mac with an existing Twitch account will be able stream their games to their Twitch.tv channels "soon," according to a press announcement.



Matthew DiPietro, vice president of marketing at Twitch stated in the same press release that Minecraft has "struck a very powerful chord" with Twitch users. The popularity of Minecraft is growing and it shows that people are enjoying watching video games, even if they are not the most popular eSports games. Expect a watershed moment for both spectators and players once the ability to easily broadcast live gameplay directly to Twitch begins live."



This announcement is only available to Mac and PC users. Minecraft Servers However, it's important to note that the Xbox One will get its own Minecraft version, and Twitch will be integrated into Microsoft's next generation console. So the possibility is there for Twitch streaming from an Xbox One console version of the game. That is until a creeper walks through and destroys everything. Sssssssss.

Twitch Announces Minecraft Partnership at MINECON 2013



Mojang's Minecraft PC and MAC users will soon be able to broadcast their games to Twitch with a click of a button



SAN FRANCISCO - November 2 2013 Twitch is the world's most popular video platform and community for gamers announced today at the sold-out MineCon convention an agreement of partnership with Mojang to offer broadcasting features for Minecraft. The integration of Twitch into Minecraft's PC and MAC versions of the most popular game lets players broadcast directly to their Twitch channels. The Twitch functionality will be live shortly.



Mojang published Minecraft on May 17, 2009. Since it's launch, it's become the most popular PC sandbox adventure game with more than 13 million units sold in sales on PC with more than 33 million units sold in sales across all platforms. It has been awarded a variety of high-profile awards, including five Game Developers Choice Awards at the 2011 Game Developers Conference. MINECON 2013, Mojang’s annual Minecraft convention, was a huge success. More than 7,500 attendees were there, eager to see the next steps in one of the most original games of all time and also to meet the team behind it.



Twitch has seen its popularity rise and Twitch's Top 20 Games page displaying it each month. This has been the case since Twitch launched in 2011.

Twitch was launched in June of 2011 and has been the primary live video platform for the gaming industry in general. Video game developers, publishers, media companies, professional gamers, and individuals who are creators of original content have all joined Twitch with the platform's next major appearance being the PlayStation(r)4 system Sony Computer Entertainment's (SCE) next generation computer entertainment system, and Xbox One, the all-in-one gaming and entertainment system from Microsoft Corp.
