A student from Delaware has spent two years building the virtual world he named Titan City in the video game Minecraft.

Titan City is made up of 4.5 Million Minecraft building blocks. Robinson Is Back It also has 96 buildings.

Duncan Parcells claims it took him two years to build and that he works up to five hours per week on the project.

The first building he built was a virtual model of the World Trade Center, which took 18 months to perfect.

The 19-year-old is of the opinion that Titan City is not a realistic New York model.

"It's inspired by New York," he told the BBC.

"A majority of people believe it's a recreation but it isn't."

He constructed the city using the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft but has now transferred it to the PC version that is, he claims, provides more construction possibilities.

Mr. Parcells plans to build an airport and the construction of a sports stadium.

He said, "I suppose it's an outlet to energy and architecture."

"I've always loved architecture. I am most proud of Victorian-style buildings that are less modern and more art deco.

"A majority of people stop by and want to walk around and explore, or assist in the construction. Many of them help to build roads.

While Titan City has received a warm welcome online and offline, Mr Parcells said that until now he has kept his virtual world apart from his everyday life.

He said, "I've kept this under cover. It's like a different life I'm not talking about, but people are starting to discover."

"My parents believe it's cool. I think they're just glad I don't play it so much."

Microsoft recently announced that it would purchase Minecraft studio Mojang in a deal of $2.5bn (PS1.5bn).

Markus Persson, aka Notch announced that the game had surpassed 100 million players in February 2014.

After an initial purchase of the game Minecraft is completely free to play but there are in-game purchases that can be purchased.

The game is set in a virtual world comprised of cubes made from various materials. Most of them can be used to build blocks and a few can be transformed into usable raw materials (wood, iron, diamond and so on.).

The game requires you to survive by building shelters with blocks and transform raw materials and mixtures of them into items (swords and bows, armour and so on.) to fight the many monsters that are in the game.
