Music. For Life” aims to provide an opportunity for “ability-driven music education”. This means that we will recognise the students’ capabilities and interests, and encourage them to explore routes that can best maximise their abilities.
We aim to offer multiple music examination tracks – all of which will allow the student to best choose a route that is most suitable for him or her if they are taking the examination route.
We offer various classical, modern and pop/rock syllabuses from ABRSM, ANZCA, and TCL. The boards offer music from a huge range of carefully chosen classical pieces, modern repertoire, and hit songs; spanning all contemporary styles. Candidates are exposed many genres from a young age.
Want to learn a simple piece quickly* for a special occasion? Or you want to pick up a piano playing? This route will inspire a student to learn at their own pace and practice regime**. This course divides itself into 3 levels – Beginner, Early Intermediate and Late Intermediate.
The key outcome is for students to learn and master the concepts of piano playing – such as basic techniques, ear training, sight-reading, basic improvisation and modern chord concepts/progressions. Of course, you can choose to take this course too if you have a background (i.e. completed some grades) and want to explore music improvisation leisurely for your personal enjoyment. You will be introduced to modern chord progressions, chord extensions/inversions, accompaniment styles, ad-lib improvisations, further ear training, and performance recording opportunities.
Music lessons are conducted individually and tailored towards a pace that caters mostly to teenagers and adults. Genres for leisure courses usually include pop, ballads, new-age, ‘jazzy’ tunes, etc. Students are also given an option if they will like switch to the examination routes to challenge themselves!
