Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

16 min read

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a souls-like game that can be enjoyed even by those who are not particularly fond of challenging games. However, this does not imply that it is a stress-free game; it is challenging, but not as frustrating as other games in its genre.

Its challenging aspect is based on the game's unique bosses. There are 21 major bosses in the game, and we've ranked them from worst to best. Each boss is distinct in many ways, such as their form, fighting abilities, and pattern.

21. Fengxi (Two Chivalrous Heroes)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

The first two on this list are two bosses from a single mission throughout Two Chivalrous Heroes. Fengxi is a colossal boar-like demon who enjoys charging at you.

He is one of the game's slowest enemies, and to be honest, he felt like fodder you could easily dispose of with the right combos after you staggered him and did plenty of Fatal Strikes on him.

Zhao Yun will assist you in defeating him and giving you enough time to recover if Fengxi manages to hit you.

20. Zhuyan (Two Chivalrous Heroes)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Zhuyan is a frightening ape-like demon. In the Two Chivalrous Heroes mission, you will also face him. If you've played the demo, you've probably encountered him as the boss.

He is ranked higher than Fengxi because his design and fight are more entertaining than the former. He is quite difficult because he is one of the first bosses you will face in the game, but Zhao Yun will assist you in fighting this demon-ape monster. It's also a good place to practice your deflect because his swings are wide enough to give you enough time to react.

19. Taotie (Centuries of Glory Burned Away)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Taotie is the boss fight for the mission Centuries of Glory Burned Away. He is an amalgamation of animal and demon, which is terrifying, especially given his enormous size.

He does look epic, but his size is also the reason he dropped to number 19. He is the easiest boss to defeat in the game because his attacks are slow and you can avoid him for the majority of the fight. His Critical Blow attacks are easily deflected because they are telegraphed by a red glow and build up slowly, giving you plenty of time to prepare.

Although, I like the idea of the Fatal Strike location being somewhat hidden, which is a nice touch.

18. Zhang Rang (The Fall of The Corrupted Eunuch)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Zhang Rang is a difficult boss to defeat, not because he is entertaining or unique, but because he can clone himself frequently, putting you at a disadvantage. It's a cheap trick to make the fight more difficult, which is why he is on number 18.

This also allows you to use more followers in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. These are NPCs who can fight alongside you, and in this fight, you have Cao Cao as a follower, but you can certainly add another to help him repel the clones.

Surprisingly, you can one-shot the clones by deflecting their Critical Blow.

17. Hua Xiong (The Battle of Hulaoguan Pass)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Hua Xiong appears to be an ordinary foe, but he is a powerful threat. I like the fight setting and the build-up before you fight him, so it's a good fight for The Battle of Hulaoguan Pass mission.

He has effective attack moves, particularly his Critical Blows, which are fun to deflect. You must be patient in this fight, as he is best damaged when you deflect his Critical Blows and drain his spirit before attacking with Fatal Strike.

16. Yuan Shao (Decisive Battle of Guandu)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Yuan Shao, with his massive build and a shield in one hand and a snake in the other, is essentially a tank in this game. His shield can emit icy frost, which acts as projectile attacks against you.

His attacks are slow due to his build, and his Critical Blow is easily deflected. He is lower on the list, however, because some of his attacks can miss even if you mess up the timing for deflection.

He is slightly higher than the others, however, because the setting of his fight, as well as the fight itself, is quite entertaining.

15. Zhang Jiao, General of Heaven (The Demon Fort of the Yellow Heaven)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Zhang Jiao is one of the bosses who use a lot of magic in fights, so be prepared with equipment that can reduce the blow from his magic. Sun Jian is your companion in this fight, and he is quite aggressive, which makes the fight much easier.

You can actually counter his elemental attacks to negate damage, and his Critical Blow can be easily deflected if you know when it's coming. He can be quite difficult at first, but he will gradually become easier as the fight progresses.

This boss battle is definitely one-of-a-kind and a lot of fun. Some people may prefer it to some of the higher-ranking bosses on this list.

14. Baishe (The Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Baishe is a demon with a woman's upper body and a snake's lower body. She is only a sub-boss in Zhang Rang's level, The Fall of the Corrupted Eunuch, which is unfortunate given how good this boss fight is.

She can crawl on the walls, making her difficult to attack, and as a Critical Blow, she will lunge at you. Of course, you can deflect it, but it is one of the more difficult attacks to parry, which makes it extremely satisfying if you succeed.

You also have Cao Cao as a companion, making this boss battle a little easier.

13. Yan Liang and Wen Chou (Behold the Glaive of Righteousness)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Soulslike games like to pit you against multiple enemies, which is why we have the Yan Liang and Wen Chou boss fight. Given the disparity in build and play style between the two enemies, this is a good fight.

Yan Liang is more agile and can be easily defeated. Wen Chou, on the other hand, is tough but slow. I mentioned that Yan Liang is easily defeated, but this is because Wen Chou can actually revive him to 50% health. It's a unique approach to defeating the bosses, and it's a fun challenge.

It's entertaining to deflect each individual's Critical Blow, but deflecting the coordinated attack is much more satisfying because it staggers both of them at the same time.

12. Zhang Bao, General of Earth (The Valley of Crying Wraiths)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Zhang Bao is primarily a spellcaster boss. He would have ranked higher if they had balanced melee and spellcasting attacks, as blocking his Critical Blows in melee is actually fun.

It is a difficult fight because it can quickly escalate, especially if you are not prepared to deflect the fire spells that he unleashes whenever he can. The best way to beat him is to close him out as soon as he teleports, giving him less time to cast spells.

Furthermore, you have two companions in this fight, making it much easier than fighting him alone.

11. Dong Zhuo (Tyrant’s Final Banquet)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Dong Zhuo is a powerful warlord and one of the more interesting boss fights in the game.

He is more engaging because his attacks are unpredictable, making the battle more intense because you must time your deflections better as his attack can be quite off-putting. His Critical Blows are also quite aggressive, which can help you win the battle decisively if you time your deflects perfectly.

10. Xiahou Dun (War's Flames Blaze Fiercely)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Xiahou Dun is a winged demon who fights with a scythe. He has great form as a monster, and his fight is enjoyable enough to rank among the top ten boss fights on this list.

He always hovers around you as a winged boss, which can be quite annoying at times. It may take some practice to perfect your deflect timing when he lunges at you. This fight has a lot of fluff, which means there are a lot of distractions because Xiahou Dun keeps spewing fire in your vicinity.

His Critical Blows, if deflected, would stun him and knock him to the ground, allowing you to unleash all hell on him.

9. Aoye (In Search of the Immortal Wizard)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Aoye is a frightening boss with a cow head and it is full of hair. When you first see it, it's creepy and disgusting. Nonetheless, it is one of the game's better boss fights.

It has a large moveset, which makes the fight more difficult. Although some may argue that some of his moves are cheap because they are almost unpredictable or have fewer gestures before performing an attack, making you more vulnerable to being hit more frequently.

Overall, it's fun fighting Aoye, and despite its massive frame, it doesn't block the screen too much, and the world design for his fight is also nice.

8. Zhang Liao (The Way of The Warrior)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

The fight against Zhang Liao deserves to be ranked number eight. He is a formidable foe, making the two followers included in the mission far more valuable than in other missions.

He is very aggressive, and his attacks are combo chains that can be fatal if you don't deflect correctly, and you must deflect everything if you want to escape unscathed. He employs electricity as an elemental attack, which looks incredible during the fight.

You're lucky to have reinforcements in this fight because Zhang Liao's combos are lethal, and Liu Bei and Zhang Fei can definitely stall him while you heal.

7. Sun Jian (Darkness Over the Hanshui River)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Sun Jian was transformed into a giant tiger-like demon in Darkness Over the Hanshui River, which looks amazing, to be honest. This boss fight is also brilliant, and his moveset is even tiger-like, which is an added bonus.

You can easily deflect the majority of his lunge attack because you recognize his pattern. You can even deflect his Critical Blow because it takes a long time to perform despite his quick movements.

It's also a 3v1 fight in your favour, making the fight easier, but you can try battling him solo for more fun.

6. Lu Bu (Battle of Hulaoguan Pass)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

In his human form, Lu Bu is a formidable foe. You encounter him early in the game, and he is riding a horse, making any attack against him insignificant.

When you separate him from his horse, the real fight begins, and don't get too confident because he can easily defeat you with his amazing movesets. Deflecting his combo is extremely satisfying and fun, but it can also be quite lethal if you get the timing wrong even once.

Reinforcements or adding another follower to help you do not really help in this boss fight because of how Lu Bu fights, which is incredible and primarily uses wide swings that can obliterate anyone.

5. Liu Bei - Demon Form (Behold the Glaive of Righteousness)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Unfortunately, yet another unwilling person is corrupted, this time Liu Bei. This fight is deserving of a spot in the top 5. It's interesting, it can get chaotic, and fighting this boss is a lot of fun.

The best part of this fight is fighting him on the ground. His combo is fast, but it can be deflected if you master the timing. Furthermore, once he is below 50% health, his attacks become faster, requiring new timing on your deflect.

The only drawback of this fight is that Liu Bei may be hovering too much in the air. It is very engaging and fun if he fights you on the ground. However, Liu Bei appears to keep stalling you by throwing projectiles that turn into waves whenever he can.

4. Yu Ji & Embodiment of Demonic Qi (Decisive Battle of Guandu)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

As the "final boss," fighting Yu Ji is considered the game's climax. It is the culmination of everything you have learned throughout the game, and finally defeating him is extremely satisfying.

He enjoys performing magical attacks on you, which can easily wipe you out if you are not careful. He also uses melee attacks, and his Critical Blow is a way to stun him for a moment and get some free attack.

After you defeat Yu Ji, you will face the Embodiment of Demonic Qi as he merges with the Xielong demon. I really like the level design here, which is definitely chaotic. It finally conveys how enormous this monstrosity is. To be honest, it's a final boss battle done right.

3. Lu Bu - Demon Form (Lu Bu, Mightiest Among Men)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Lu Bu's demon form is without a doubt one of the best fights in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. It's as epic as it gets, with plenty of adrenaline-pumping moments.

It can be very satisfying to deflect his attacks, especially his Critical Blows. He also has some of his attacks with delayed timing, making him unpredictable. His movesets are also extremely fast and lethal.

This fight definitely outperforms your first encounter with him, and it adds so much flavour to it that it can be truly chaotic as he does his combos while you try to deflect them.

2. Zhang Liang, General of Man (Village of Calamity)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Zhang Liang is the first boss in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and he is easily one of the game's best. To be honest, people seem to recognize this as one of the best first bosses in the genre.

This fight will test your understanding of combat mechanics. Furthermore, just because he is the first boss does not make him the easiest. Actually, newcomers may find him difficult to defeat, but so do veterans. He also has two phases, which is a pleasant surprise when you first encounter him.

The second phase is unquestionably more difficult, but also more rewarding, than the first. The main goal here is to deflect his attack, particularly the Critical Blow attack, and then completely obliterate him once he is stunned.

1. Blindfolded Boy (The Crouching Dragon Roars)

Ranking All Bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Blindfolded Boy is the game's true final boss, and he is introduced in a plot twist, which adds a nice twist to the ending. It is also the best fight in the series, as it is incredibly satisfying to finally defeat the game's final boss.

Furthermore, he puts up a fight because he is more aggressive than the Yu Ji fight, despite having a similar move set. The most amazing sequence will occur if both of you successfully deflect each other's attacks in a row.

His play style is more balanced, as he attacks you with a more powerful combo. He also performs various elemental attacks and attempts to throw them at you as a projectile attack. This gives it a distinct feel, as he follows an unpredictable pattern throughout the fight.

Conclusion

Here are our Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty boss fight rankings. To be honest, there are no dull boss fights in this game. Some bosses, however, are unquestionably more interesting and engaging than others. Anyways, be sure to grab this game on Steam with Steam Wallet Code from OffGamers here!
