Our My Lyn Kitchen: A warm and inviting space for family and friends
4 min read

The kitchen’s never been the most glamorous part of the house, but that’s not necessarily because it isn’t important. No matter how efficient your kitchen design and layout, no matter how modern your appliances or stylish your cabinets, if you don’t have the people to enjoy them with, what well are they? That’s why we started My Lyn: so that our customers could bring their people into their kitchens, no matter what those kitchens looked like.

How we designed it

We spent a lot of time designing the kitchen, both to make it functional and to make it feel like home. We wanted a space where we could cook from scratch with fresh ingredients, but also where we could invite our friends over for dinner. Our solution? The Lieferservice baden baden. We designed the kitchen so that it was right next to our dining room, which allowed us to keep all of our cooking utensils close at hand while still having the social aspect of a kitchen table.

How we furnished it

We wanted a kitchen that was welcoming for our family, friends, and guests so we furnished it with items that are personal to us. We got this antique desk from my grandfather's old office as well as these beautiful chairs from the German Lieferservice Baden-Baden. We also have a game table where we can play cards or games when we're in need of some downtime. Lastly, we have an area designated just for food storage where all of our kitchen appliances are housed to create the most efficient work flow possible.

How we decorated it

We wanted to keep the kitchen looking open and spacious, so we removed all cabinetry from the walls. It's a blank slate that we're happy to fill with anything from cookbooks, dishes or plants.

For now, we left the island counter in place but painted it a bright white color. The Ikea Lieferservice Baden Baden Fjällbo kitchen cart is perfect for storing extra supplies like spices or canned goods. When we add a stovetop, the cart will be an even better storage option as well as being out of sight while still being close at hand when needed.

The most important thing was bringing warmth into the room by adding natural materials like wood and plants.

Some tips to make your own kitchen cosier

  • Make the most of your space by adding a cozy bench or breakfast nook to one side of your kitchen.
  • Spice up your walls with some colorful artwork.
  • If you're feeling ambitious, create a backsplash from tile. It's not hard, it's just time consuming.
  • Add height to the area by putting in an island with bar stools on either side - perfect for socializing over breakfast or dinner.
  • Paint the cabinets with a classic colour like white or black to make them feel more modern without having to spend money on new cabinets.
Some other options that worked well in our My Lyn

We wanted to create a kitchen that was cozy, bright, and welcoming. We were inspired by the natural light in our home, and also by the warmth of our favorite coffee shops. We love coming home after a long day at work or out on errands to this relaxing place where we can unwind with a cup of tea or coffee before going to bed. It's also been nice to have an area where the whole family can gather around the table for breakfast or dinner in one spot (without having to try and squeeze into the living room).

We made sure there was plenty of room for gathering, playing games with kids, writing letters together as a family, reading books side-by-side, or just kicking back on your phone.
