The city of Makkah witnesses the arrival of hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually. Traveling through their hajj packages 2022, pilgrims arrive in the holy land and offer the holy rituals. Since the Hajj period falls in the summer season nowadays, one must know about tackling the hot weather conditions there. Also, some of the umrah pilgrims ravel for the holy rituals during summer. Hence pilgrimage travel in summer is among the challenging things that a pilgrim might have to face.
Here are some of the tips for your pilgrimage travel during summer.

Makkah’s weather.

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a sandy and rough, hot weather climate. The summers here, especially in Makkah, are intensely hot. For the people traveling from the cold climatic regions, the scorching heat is often unbearable and leads to many difficulties.
The peak summer temperature is expected to reach approximately 50°C (122°F) every year! Despite this, sandstorm threats are a regular thing. All in all, increasing the chances of heatstroke.
So here are some of the things that you should know about pilgrimage travel during summer.

1.Bring Umbrellas.
Since most of the time you’ll be performing the holy rituals under bright sunlight, one has to necessarily shield itself from the intense heat. While for male pilgrims, covering the head is not permissible in the state of Ihram, there’s nothing wrong with using an umbrella.
Religiously, one is permitted to use an umbrella to shield oneself from the sun as per the need. Therefore, bringing separate umbrellas that would help to protect you from direct sunlight as well as prevent sunburns/rashes to some extent.

2.Rest proper.
Pilgrims are required to cover long distances on foot as part of the holy rituals i.e., rituals of Tawaf, Sayee, etc. So, if one doesn’t rest properly exhaustion and bodily strain would be a constant problem.
It’s also advised for pilgrims to try and take small halts between the rituals to perform Hajj/umrah without much effort (it's permissible as well). These shortstops will give you the necessary energy required to continue the journey with the same enthusiasm and zeal, and also prevent you from falling ill.

3.Hydration is necessary.
It is understood that living in the hot weather would drain your body of the necessary hydration required. So, drink lots of fluids and water especially Zamzam water. Though one cannot access the Zamzam well physically, its supply is readily available throughout Haramain.
Additionally, avoid eating or drinking such items that make you thirstier. For instance, deep-fried foods, sugary items, soda drinks, etc.
It also remains recommended for the pilgrims to utilize supplementary fluids i.e., vitamin C and other energy boosters to help them retain the necessary energy for the rituals.
These are some of the basic pilgrimage travel tips during summer.
