Poems The Bridge To The Heart

Poems The Bridge To The Heart
3 min read

When you don’t know the end or how to start,

Isn’t it such a challenge to tell the matters of the heart?

But we try, nonetheless, to express our secrets and aching truths,

For the sake of love, through all the what-ifs and woulds,

It’s the thought that matters, not the price,

Just some poems on sticky notes would suffice.

Humans have an innate tendency to express what they feel. But when it comes to a feeling as complex and beautiful as love, we are often perplexed by how to paint the picture.

Poetry is universally known as “the language of the heart.” It is a bridge that connects thoughts, emotions, and experiences. With each verse and rhyme, you can vividly express your feelings and discover the deepest depths of your soul.

The affair between poetry and love dates way back to ancient Mesopotamia, where love was depicted in epic tales and myths, whereas in Egypt, love poetry was etched on papyrus scrolls and tomb walls. Poets such as Anacreon and Sappho explored the sorrows and joys of romantic relationships, whereas Roman poets such as Catullus and Ovid wrote passionately about desire and heartache.

Fast forward to the Renaissance, in the resurgence of classical literature and humanism, flowers of love bloomed in the garden of poetry. Poets such as Dante, Petrarch, and the great William Shakespeare explored the complexities of love with each of their rhymes, a trend that continued to the modern era, where names such as T.S. Eliot, Rupi Kaur, and E. E. Cummings moved audiences with their prose.

There is something about poetry that speaks to us on a deeper level. It is more than just words, but a feeling in itself. Poetry gives us a platform to set our creativity ablaze, no matter how abstract.

In essence, the connection between poetry and love solely lies in the pursuit of truth and beauty. Its ability to transform and transcend mirrors the human spirit. This is why poetry always speaks to us more than any other discipline. It encapsulates the simplicity of love, bearing the notion that “less is more.”

Authors Kayla Griffin and Mark Galaviz present their beautiful book, Sticky Notes & Love Poems. The read is a compilation of love poems that center around notes Mark left Kayla over the last nine years. She kept every note and poem he ever wrote and then created her own poetry about love. The book was a Valentine’s Day surprise to her partner, and now you get to keep it, too. Sticky Notes and Love Poems summarizes that love is not a grand gesture but a sticky note repeated each day.

Sticky Notes & Love Poems is now available on Amazon.
