Solutions - QuickBooks Backup Failed

Step 1: Configure QuickBooks to access a new Company File

  • Access QuickBooks.
  • Press File.
  • Select the Open/Restore option.
  • Choose New Company File Name.
  • Hit Open.

Step 2: Create an external backup of the Company File

  1. In QuickBooks, select File.
  2. Click on Save Copy or Backup.
  3. Press Backup Copy.
  4. Hit Next.
  5. Now, click on Local Backup.
  6. Hit Next.
  7. You need to navigate to the local drive location.
  8. Click on Save.
  9. Next, move to your local drive.
  10. Locate the company file.

Step 3: Rename the Company File

  1. Navigate and open the company file.
  2. Press the F2 button.
  3. The Product Information window will pop up.
  4. Move to the File Information Field.
  5. Make a note of the company file location.
  6. Click on the Windows button.
  7. In the search bar, type File Explorer.
  8. Hit Enter.
  9. In the search field on top, put the company file location.
  10. Hit Enter.
  11. Right-click on this file.
  12. Select Rename.
  13. Type a new company file name.
  14. Click Yes to confirm.
