Even though Galaxy S23 Ultra is not seeing a major design change, there will be pretty significant improvements under the hood.
One of those areas is the camera. As you already know there will be a 200MP main camera this time and judging from the leaked camera samples, it offers a pretty substantial improvement and is certainly not a gimmick. But the main camera is not the only thing getting an improvement, the night photography is also seeing the biggest upgrade we've seen in recent times. And today Ice Universe mentions that with the latest firmware update the night photography of the S23 Ultra has seen some fantastic improvements.
The S23 Ultra's night shots with the latest firmware show some fantastic improvements you can expect from the S23 Ultra.

Any camera can take good photos with good lighting, but only a good camera can take good photos at night.
Although on phones, the night photos depend more on software post-processing but judging from his sources, it's more than likely the S23 Ultra will have the best night photography capability we have ever seen on any phone so far.

Another area where the S23 Ultra will greatly improve is video recording. Not only the normal 1080p and 4K video recording is getting better, but the phone will also see its 8K video recording get improved by 25%.
You see, right now in current Samsung flagships you can record 8K videos at 24fps, but with all the S23 handsets you can now record the same at 30fps. To be honest, I don't think many people actually record their videos at 8K, so it's not really a big deal in my opinion. What would actually matter more is whether or not it can record 4K videos at 120 fps.
Right now, the S22 Ultra can only record at 4K60. Having 4K at 120fps support would be a great improvement, as it would enable a better slow-motion effect and a more cinematic look when the footage is slowed down to 30 or 24fps. And thankfully, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can actually support 4K at 120fps video recording. So it's likely the S23 can also do the same.
And finally, we have some live pictures where people are claiming that it's the frame of the S23 Ultra. But I can confirm that is not the case. Because there's no slot for the S Pen. Also, if you see the camera, there's no cutout for the periscope zoom camera. So I'm sure this is a prototype unit that Samsung made for internal testing. Maybe for the Note 10+ but it's most certainly not for the S23 Ultra.
Speaking of the prototype unit, here's one more. And it's for the S22 Ultra. It has a flat display and a flat frame. Basically, it looks like a brick. The S23 Ultra will also have flatter sides but no it's not going to be as boxy as this. This is just an engineering prototype unit that is not meant to go on sale. The S23 Ultra will have many big internal upgrades such as a better camera, better chipset, a better storage system to name a few. And here's one more that will make it tougher than ever.
