Shanna Moakler, /'SeIn@/, was born March 28, 1975. After Chelsi Weber won the Miss Universe 1995 pageant in 1995, Moakler was elected Miss USA 1995. In December 2001, she was selected as Playmate of the month for Playboy magazine.
Moakler eventually branched out into an acting career, appearing as a regular for two seasons on the USA Network television series Pacific Blue in 1998, and in 2005 she starred as herself on the reality television series Meet the Barkers with her then-husband Travis Barker, drummer in the rock band Blink-182. The series aired for two seasons on MTV. She hosted Bridalplasty during the two-month period in 2010/2011. Moakler was added to the VH1 reality show, Hollywood Exes, in January 2014.
Early life
Moakler is of German, Irish and Portuguese descent. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Moakler is the daughter of two brothers and a sister who died in 2012. Moakler grew up on weekends at her grandfather's farm. She was 4 feet 11 and 75 pounds and participated in ice skating competitions. Moakler claims she was 4'11" and 75 pounds when she reached puberty. [She later moved to Miami to pursue a modeling career. Moakler moved to New York City, then to Los Angeles.
Career
At 17, Shanna Moakler represented Rhode Island at Miss Teen USA in 1992. She was third in the preliminaries, sixth for the interview segment, and fifth in the swimsuit competition. Moakler reached the semi-finals, finishing seventh overall.
Moakler was Miss New York USA in 1995. She represented New York at the Miss USA pageant held in South Padre Island (Texas) in 1995. Moakler was second to Miss Texas USA in the preliminaries in each interview, swimsuit, and swimsuit divisions with scores of 9.06 and 9.62, respectively. She also placed first in the evening gown competition with a score of 9.86. Moakler was overall the Miss USA Pageant's first runner-up. Moakler, then 20, was awarded the 1995 Miss USA crown by Chelsi Smith.
Moakler enjoyed certain aspects of her reign at Miss USA, including celebrity pool tournaments. She complained, however, that she was required to sign autographs at Bob's Home Furnishing Rentals. She also had to live with a chaperone for pageants, who ensured she dressed and behaved appropriately.
Moakler responded in public service to the 2009 Miss USA gay marriage controversy. Moakler responded to the 2009 Miss USA gay marriage controversy by appearing in a public service announcement supporting efforts to overturn California's Proposition 8. However, on November 13, 2009, it was announced Moakler had returned to Miss California, USA. This was around the time Carrie Prejean was removed from her position.
Moakler aired a pro-vegetarianism commercial for PETA in 2008, and she also posed nude for PETA's anti-fur campaign in 2013. She stated that fur coats wouldn't be given away as prizes if Miss Nevada was her director.
Shanna Moakler: Personal life
In 1997, Moakler was in a relationship to rock star Billy Idol. The scene in The Wedding Singer featured the couple. Moakler described Idol to be a gentleman but not too sweet or sensitive. Moakler also praised Idol's intelligence and passion for philosophy and history.
Moakler began dating Oscar De La Hoya, a boxer, in October 1997. They moved in together in 1998. Moakler said that "it wasn't a planned pregnancy" but understood that it would be beautiful if it did. If it didn't, it was okay too. The relationship ended abruptly in September 2000 when Moakler saw De La Hoya taking another woman to the Latin Grammy Awards. In 2001, the case was settled in court for an undisclosed amount.
From February 2001 to October 2001, Moakler was with Dennis Quaid. They were together when Playboy approached her and talked about it before she published nude pictures in the magazine.
Film
Moakler portrayed Jaime in Poison Ivy, The New Seduction, in 1997. In Telling You, she played the role of Cheryl Tanqueray. Moakler was cast as an air-flight hostess in the closing scene of 1998's The Wedding Singer. She was also a part of the 1999 film Love Stinks as Tawny. She was also a part of Critical Mass 2000 and Pauly Shore is Dead 2003. Other films she appeared in included Seeing Other People (2004) as Kasey and Petra in Big Momma's House 2. This film was released in 2006. VH1's I Love the New Millennium featured her as herself.

Shanna Moakler began her television career in 1996 on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Due South. She then played Lisa in Friends' Til the End (NBC's 1997 movie of the week starring Shannen Doherty). She played the role of Allison Kendall in Timecop's 1998 episode.
Moakler began his television career on Pacific Blue in 1998. Moakler was a regular on the USA Network's series Pacific Blue. The series featured a group of police officers riding bicycles along Santa Monica's beaches. Moakler, who played Officer Monica Harper in seasons four and five, admitted to being a trouble-maker rookie. She said that even though she had a $5,000 Trek bicycle, she was still prone to accidents. Moakler also stated that they often crashed into each other while riding close together for the camera and ended up in a ball of arms.

Moakler and Barker were seen together on an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation called "Poppin' Tags," originally aired on April 13, 2006. Barker was a rapper who conflicted with another rapper. She played J-Lady. The episode also featured Method Man as a guest star. Moakler appeared on the third season, which aired on September 12, 2006, of ABC's Dancing with the Stars. [citation needed] Moakler was eliminated in week 2. She was a guest star on many other shows, including HBO's Entourage and Telemundo's Mas Vale Tarde. This particular show focused on mother-daughter pairs competing for $100,000. Moakler, the Last Beauty Standing ten contestants, was the Last Beauty Standing on the 120th episode of NBC's Minute to Win It (aka The Last Beauty Standing). She was the top winner with $100,000 to her charity.
Moakler was among the celebrity judges who selected a male model as the new and second-only male model for the popular television game Price was Right in 2014.
Moakler was named a HouseGuest in 2022 and competed in Celebrity Big Brother's third season. She finished seventh out of eleven.
