Technology is a fundamental part of our lives now; to the point that you are enveloped in a sense of vulnerability when you are without your phone. This is an attachment that our grandparents never had and could probably never imagine having, but change is always inevitable and these devices have played a huge part in that.

One of the key changes that have not just affected industries in our day-to-day lives has been the rise of the app market. It is hard to believe that both the android and IOS app markets were only introduced back in 2008. At that time there were only 500 apps available in the store, now that number stretches to over 2 million.

Here are three industries that have benefited the most from the popularity of mobile apps.

iGaming

The most popular way to gamble now is through the use of a mobile phone app. This has been detrimental to the significant growth the gambling industry has seen over the past decade. With one swipe you can access a live casino online and play a huge variety of games like poker, roulette and blackjack.

The constant improvement of mobile devices has worked in tangent with the development of these games, which gives you the best possible experience. Meaning you will be able to interact with a comprehensive range of live dealers in real time.

Social

The immense popularity of social media apps has completely changed how we interact with other people. Some social apps like Twitter even shape our worldview and have become our go-to source for information and news. This implosion of free speech through these apps has had a dramatic impact on everything we say, do or think.

The most popular social app in the UK currently is TikTok closely followed by Twitter and Instagram. These are not just the most popular social apps but some of the most popular apps overall.

Health and Fitness

The health and fitness trend has never been as popular as it is now, although you can credit the aforementioned social apps for contributing to this, it is the wide range of fitness apps that have helped greatly. The sense of accountability that these apps provide can help strike motivation and coupled with a calorie counter like MyFitnessPal, make for a more streamlined process.

A lot of these apps can also be paired with a fitness watch or another wearable device which has made them more desirable. This allows you to minutely track runs, calories burned and your heart rate through the use of an app.

In 2021, the global app market was worth almost £170 billion and was forecasted to reach £511 billion by 2030. According to a study by data.ai, ordinary people are spending four to five hours every day interacting with various apps. We now rely on apps to communicate, stay healthy and find entertainment, they have drastically changed our lives and will continue to do so far into the future.
