The Medical Examiner's Office confirmed they were humans, but the "age or gender, or date of death" has not been established yet.Human remains were also discovered inside Maury County, Tennessee, but they are considered to be the remains of an adult.

The authorities released an official statement regarding the Summer Wells case on December 15, 2021, the anniversary of six months since her disappearance.

"It is six months since the 5-year-old Summer Wells was reported missing from her home on Ben Hill Road in Hawkins County. The case is not solved and is a major burden on the people trying to find the answers.

The investigation is in progress and is ongoing. TBI agents collaborate with authorities from Hawkins County Sheriff's Office and the FBI to discover the circumstances surrounding Summer," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated.

"At the moment, there isn't any evidence to suggest that she was abducted. There are still many possibilities to be considered for foul play, as well as it is also possible that she strayed off and got lost in the rugged and mountainous terrain surrounding her home.
