The Metaverse

With the rise of online dating, we are seeing more and more people meet and fall in love online. And now, with the help of blockchain technology, we are seeing the development of a new type of relationship: the Metaverse marriage. And it’s only getting bigger and better. With the advent of Web 3.0, we are now seeing a new wave of innovation that is set to change the world as we know it. One of the most intriguing aspects of this new era is the way it is impacting our relationships.

What is a Metaverse marriage?

It is a marriage that is officiated and registered on the blockchain. This new type of marriage is made possible by the fact that Blockchain is a distributed ledger that can store immutable records. This means that once a couple is married on the blockchain, their marriage is recorded on thousands of computers all around the world and can never be altered or deleted. While the concept of a Metaverse marriage may seem far-fetched, there are already a million people willing to get into this new form of relationship. Metappfactory is a blockchain-based metaverse development company that is working to create a virtual environment for special events and occasions such as the Metaverse marriage.

Just Got Married

On February 6 2022, a couple in India got married in virtual reality for the first time. Harry Potter is the theme that Janaganandhini Ramaswamy and Dinesh SP have chosen. They have gone a step further and have decided to have a virtual avatar of the bride’s late father. This was an emotional thing to the entire couple, especially the bride fulfilling her heart.

Similarly, Traci and Dave Gagnon, both agents of a real estate brokerage, have married in a virtual reality environment, the Metaverse. One of the main reasons the couple said they wanted to hold the virtual event is so that those who can’t be there in the real-life ceremony can attend in another way. Traci and Dave have created avatars of themselves and had the marriage in the metaverse and in real life at the same time. The couple wed in person at a country club in New Hampshire, where they currently reside, but at the same time, they conducted an online ceremony in which avatars walked down the aisle.

The Metaverse was seamlessly integrated into their wedding platform; the emotions were so smooth and compelling. Instead of just having an online zoom meeting,

Metaverse goes a step ahead and uses Virtual Reality and Augmented reality In order to make the virtual reality in the metaverse more realistic, it is important tohave spatial sound. This means that the sound should change based on the position of the avatar in the virtual world. For example, if an avatar is walking towards the priest, the sound of their footsteps is heard differently by different audiences on the metaverse. This means that the sound will change based on the position of the heads also, giving the users an even more realistic experience. While this technology is still in its early stages, it is promising and could have a big impact on the metaverse.

Cool, but is this all legal?

Marrying in the metaverse is definitely legal in the real world, in the sense that it is not illegal. Millennial couples now invest in Web 3 assets together, such as virtual real estate or similar assets, the courts might also consider it as well as issues like fraud committed through the channel that ultimately affects real-world money.

There are a number of reasons why couples might choose to get married in Metaverse. For some, it is a more convenient way to get married, as they can do so from the comfort of their own home. For others, it is a way to save money on the cost of a traditional wedding and for others, they want to have different ways of getting married as an adventure.

The fact that Metaverse marriage is termed legal is because the technology is so brand new and there are no laws that have been made stating it’s legal. Getting married is not a bad deed anyway. But, is this way of registering the marriage to the government despite the blockchain technology recording the event forever, absolutely not. Marriages have to be registered with the government officially. This holds as the only true way in which a marriage is legalized. Different religions and cultures follow different traditions and customs to get married, yet registering the marriage only stands as the only to get officially married. Similarly, Couples getting married in Metaverse have to register their marriage as well.
