The 10 Most Beautiful and Historic Places in India

India is a beautiful country and there are many places to visit. Here are my picks for some of the most beautiful and best tourist places in india.

Konark Sun Temple

The Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important religious monuments in India. It was built by the Chandella dynasty between 1250 to 1260 CE, and it is dedicated to Surya, or the Sun God. The temple’s form is that of a chariot-like structure with four wheels made out of black granite stones which represent Mount Meru on which stands Lord Vishnu riding his elephant Garuda (the vehicle used by Lord Vishnu). The architecture at this place was inspired from other ancient monuments like those found in Cambodia or Thailand.

The uniqueness about this temple lies in its location: unlike most other temples built during medieval times which were located inside forests or mountains inaccessible by people living nearby; this particular site was accessible through an open field (top 10 tourist places in India) on flat ground surrounded by wetlands making it easier for construction workers who worked on its construction project every day without getting tired easily because there was no need for them being confined inside any building while doing their job!

Red Fort

Red Fort is a 17th-century fort complex in Delhi, India. It was the residence of the Mughal Emperors and later a royal prison during British rule. It is now a museum, open to visitors who can walk its grounds and see many monuments and structures within its walls.

The Red Fort started out as an unfinished mud structure built by Babur at the end of his reign (1526–1530). His successors were unable to finish it until 1638 when Shah Jahan began construction on what would become one of Delhi's most popular landmarks today—the “Red Fort” or All-Saints Church (built 1658), which still stands today as part of Delhi's Old City Wall & Gateway Complex along with other structures like Jama Masjid and Qutub Minar

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. It was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and was completed in 1648. It's also one of India's most famous landmarks, so you'd think it would be difficult to get around this attraction—but we've got some tips for making your trip to Agra even more magical! and famous tourist places in india.

The Taj Mahal is located on the Agra Fort grounds and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. Because it's such an important part of Indian history, don't forget to pay homage at this magnificent monument before leaving town!

Golden Temple, Amritsar

The Golden Temple is the most important place of worship for the Sikh community, who believe in one God and follow the teachings of Guru Nanak. The Harmandir Sahib (commonly known as the Golden Temple) is a large complex with many buildings, including an impressive gilded central dome. It's located on top of a hill overlooking Amritsar city where you can see it from miles away!

The Golden Temple has been rebuilt several times over its history (list of famous places in india), but it still stands today as one of India's most iconic landmarks

Hampi, Karnataka

Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful places in India. The city was once capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, which covered much of Southern India at its height. Today, it's best known for being the birthplace of Ayyappa or Kanaka Dassaya (the birth place of Lord Ayyappa), a Hindu deity who is worshiped as an incarnation by many people today.

The town itself has several attractions including:

  • A temple dedicated to Kannada poet saint Jayadeva (top 10 places to visit in India) who wrote poems inspired by his love for Krishna;

  • A temple dedicated to goddess Kali;

Bhimbetka Rock Art Sites, Madhya Pradesh

Bhimbetka rock art is a treasure trove of rock paintings and engravings, which have been dated to over 25,000 years ago. The site was discovered in the early 1960s and is located in Madhya Pradesh. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

The earliest known paintings at Bhimbetka are from around 9500 BCE (years before Christ). These include images depicting animals such as horses and elephants that have been found on rocks within caves at the site alongside human forms—including one figure with an erect phallus (called Shiva Linga) who may represent fertility or rebirth—as well as geometric designs engraved into flat surfaces like walls or ceilings above archaeological sites where they were first discovered by archaeologists working with Rajiv Gandhi National Wildlife Foundation (RGNWF).

Tiger's Nest Monastery, Leh Ladakh

Tiger's Nest Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in the upper Indus Valley of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, northern India. It is located in a side valley off the main Drangti Valley.

The monastery was founded by Khenchen Misha Rinchen Namgyal who was born near Sera monastery as an outcaste boy and became a monk at this site at age 16 after his mother died during childbirth. He renounced his family name to become Dzongsar Jamyang Chonyi Loden Sherap Rinpoche (Famous tourist places in India city wise).

Shivaji Tomb and Museum, Mumbai

The Shivaji Tomb and Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the 18th century by the Maratha warrior king Shivaji, who established a kingdom that unified southern India and protected it from invaders.

The tomb itself is located in what was once known as Fort Area of Mumbai, but later became known as Dadar after its expansion under British rule. It features ornate carvings on its walls depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, including one skeleton holding an umbrella above his head while riding on an elephant; other carvings show warriors wearing traditional attire such as turbans or jodhpurs (pants).

Ajanta Caves

Ajanta Caves are Buddhist cave monuments located in Aurangabad District of Maharashtra state. They date from the 2nd century BCE to the 6th century CE and are among the finest examples of ancient Indian art. The caves include paintings and sculptures considered to be some of the best-preserved ancient Buddhist artworks in India.

The caves were formed by karst topography and contain over 100 rock-cut structures, including chaityas (large halls), viharas (monasteries), stupas (dome shaped graves) and monasteries with frescoes depicting Jataka tales from Hindu mythology on their walls.[famous tourist place in India State Wise]

Kumbh Mela in Nashik

Kumbh Mela is a Hindu festival that takes place around February–March every 12 years, at four different locations: Prayag, Allahabad and Haridwar in northern India and Ujjain in central India. This festival commemorates the time when the gods Neelakantha and Vishwamitra bathed in Ganges River to cleanse themselves from sin after killing each other for their wives.

The most recent Kumbh Mela took place between 2013-14 with over 70 million people attending over 20 locations across India including Rishikesh (Haridwar), Allahabad and Nasik where this article was written. The next one will take place in 2021 - 2022 with more than 100 million visitors expected!

India is a beautiful place to visit

India is a beautiful place to visit. It's home to some of the most historic and beautiful places in the world, ranging from ancient temples to gorgeous beaches and secluded forests.

Here are 10 of India's most stunning spots:

  • Varanasi (Banaras) - This city has been an important religious center since at least 3000 BCE, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in all of Asia. Today you'll find many people still living here despite its growing popularity as a tourist destination—which makes sense considering how many people come here for their spiritual needs!

  • Taj Mahal - This mausoleum was built by Shah Jahan as tribute to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal after her death in 1631 CE; however it wasn't completed until 1648 CE due largely to financial constraints but also because he didn't want anyone else building anything like this on his property! So if you happen upon this magnificent structure while traveling through Varanasi then take extra care not drop anything because they will likely try taking advantage of your ignorance...

Conclusion

India is a beautiful country filled with historical and cultural sites. The Taj Mahal, Golden Temple, and Hampi are just a few of the many places that you can visit if you want to get out of your comfort zone.
