These Minecraft Ancient City Redesigns Are Gloriously Green

Minecraft builders are rehabilitating the 1.19 update's ancient cities as if they never got destroyed.

As as if the dark and depressing world of Minecraft 1.19 wasn't enough, intrepid builders are here to complete the entire redesign. You know, just a bit of light building in between other projects.

The vast, crumbling structures that lie beneath are frightening. They include ruinous pillars that abound in the darkness, surrounded by sculk blocks and shriekers that call an officer to call you if you don't touch their territory.

Perhaps the wardens are just cranky because their homes are in poor condition though. These builders are restoring the old cities to their former splendor. Many of these cities have been completely renovated with lush cave greenery to show that they were once real cities. Others have added legends of their own and light up the dark with an abundance of bright blocks. At least one of them decided to keep the spooky vibe. Maybe the ancient cities were always risky. They were usually so determined to build their buildings in a strict mode and not creative. I'm not going to be caught doing that.

A majority of these builds receive assistance for their lively auras from the top Minecraft shaders and Minecraft texture packs. Here are some of the most creative and beautiful designs of the ancient city, along with links to the designers. As always, this is the latest in incredible Minecrafting. We also have some amazing desert temple designs bases that are underwater and numerous other amazing Minecraft designs.

Unsorted Guy restores an ancient city back to its former glory. Unsorted Guy shows how he started by replacing all the sculk within the city with deepslate blocks. He also transformed the ceilings into stalactites, and brought in tons and tons of vines from the caves that were lush. Unsorted Guy also relocates grass blocks, excavates streams, and constructs his own version of an ancient city farm. This place was once alive. With all that water, the final construction definitely has a sort of hidden mountain city feel to it.

I'm getting big Atlantis vibes off this reimagined ancient city created by Andyisyoda. There's plenty of greenery that is being added to the site. I guess no one would like to think that these underground cities were always gray and drab, do you?

In the build timelapse embedded above you can watch Andyisyoda build high-fantasy bridges on the surface of water and filled with vines. Be assured that they've preserved some of the spookiness with a lava moat surrounding the massive center portal. They have a whole sunken city, surrounded by towers and huge lush greenery.

As if creating an entire city from scratch wasn't difficult enough, Fixxitt412 has completed it all in hardcore survival mode, meaning no life after death, and over the course of 100 days. Fixxitt's build is also super green, with flower gardens and farms, but they haven't completely eradicated all sculk. Minecraft servers This feels like a nice touch.

This building has a mysterious feeling to it, with lots of lights and stained glass emanating from the copper conduits at the top of the central portal. They've even made plans for houses for a group of villagers to move down and live in the deep darkness, but I do wonder how long they'd survive.

Another lush subterranean city was built by RandomGgames (opens in new tab) and OceanManRulesZaWardo. This one is more of an overgrown look perhaps even more abandoned than the original cities themselves are. It has a lot of leaves, vines and traditional glowstone blocks to light it, just like other beautiful green buildings. It appears like the pair have cleared away nearly all the sculk and replaced it with wood walkways and deepslate arches.

This "build" is actually just two screenshots (opens in new tab), not a fully fleshed out undercity, but it's such an amazing image that I couldn't resist but include it for all the other inspo-seekers around the room.

This is the exact opposite of the calming green recreations of the old city. Seggie could have made this city more frightening than a Nether fortress had the possibility ever came up. The skull archway and the blue flames are genuinely scary.

Okay I'm not sure if this is an actual Minecraft build in the slightest. This Lego set is based on Veyniac540's early cities (opens in the new tab). It's really cool. They've even put together construction instructions and list of parts for those who would like to build it yourself (opens in new tab). After you get done making things in Minecraft.
