Emery: French FA Complains About Martinez Celebrations

If you're not a fan of Kylian Mbappe and Emiliano Martinez's post-World Cup celebrations, you're in luck. The French FA has taken notice and are urging the players to stop doing this. In fact, they have even called the action 'a serious problem'.

Emiliano Martinez taunts Kylian Mbappe during Argentina's World Cup celebrations

The Argentine World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez taunted Kylian Mbappe during the victory parade in Buenos Aires. He carried a baby doll with Mbappe's face taped on it.

Mbappe was the first player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final since Sir Geoff Hurst did it in 1966. Argentina beat France on penalties, albeit after a pulsating final.

While some hailed Emi Martinez's celebrations as the coolest of the tournament, others questioned the merits of the gesture. And one French newspaper called it a "s***house" for antics during the final.

But while Argentina's squad was in high spirits after their World Cup win, their opponents were booed and jeered by their fans. It didn't help that the Argentines lost a penalty shootout to France in Qatar, and that the trophy was left in the hands of a team that won the competition by the narrowest of margins.

The teasing continued, and the French Football Federation lodged a formal complaint against Martinez. In addition, Noel Le Graet, the president of the French FA, sent a letter to Argentina's FA chief Claudio Tapia urging them to act on the matter.

Le Graet's thoughts on Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema is one of the best players in the world. He is a lethal finisher and a selfless provider. But he hasn't always had the best start in his career. In fact, he has struggled with off the field issues.

He grew up in a suburb of Lyon called Bron. His mother used to watch him play from the kitchen window. When Karim moved from Lyon to Madrid at the age of 21, he could have been a failure. However, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and mentor Jose Mourinho worked to turn his game around.

Since his move to Madrid, he has become a key player in the team and a real threat to the league title. In the last five seasons, he has scored more than 20 goals in all competitions.

This summer, Didier Deschamps decided to recall Benzema to the France national team before the Euro 2020 tournament. Benzema started all four games.

At the end of the season, he finished ranked ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo. During the season, he finished with a total of 27 goals in La Liga.

Benjamin Pavard's criticism of Didier Deschamps

The first time Benjamin Pavard played for France was at the age of nine, and he went on to represent the country at U19 and U21 level. He became part of Didier Deschamps's squad as a surprise inclusion in his first-choice line-up at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In his World Cup debut, Benjamin Pavard was a key player in France's 4-1 victory over Australia. However, his performance was also a source of much controversy. His teammates were unhappy with the 23-year-old's behaviour, and he was accused of leaking information to the media.

After the game, Pavard was dropped from the squad, and Jules Kounde, the defender from FC Barcelona, took his place. As a result, Pavard was left out of France's squad for the next four matches.

While he was on the sidelines, Pavard was praised by several of his former team-mates, including Hugo Lloris, Olivier Giroud, and Paul Pogba. Although they were less than thrilled with Pavard's decision, they praised his determination to  prove himself.

Emiliano Martinez's value has risen after World Cup performances

There's no denying that Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been a key part of Aston Villa's success this season. But there's also no denying that he's had a career that's been overlooked.

Before his stellar performance at the 2022 World Cup, he was largely overlooked by Arsenal. That changed though. Now, he's earning upwards of EUR11,058 per week and his market value has jumped to 3.7 Million Euros. Having already won the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper in the 2022 World Cup, he's expected to continue growing.

During the World Cup, he played an integral role in Argentina's win against France. As well as keeping a clean sheet, he saved two penalties and helped Argentina win the shootout. In the final, he made a crucial save in extra time.

His talents in penalty-taking have led to three international shootout wins. It's a testament to his incredible footwork and timing. He's also shown great confidence in handling long lofted balls from deep.
