Virat Kohli, an Indian cricketer, scored his 49th century during One-Day Internationals on Sunday. This is the same as Sachin Tandulkar's, a legendary cricketer. It's a great achievement, but Kohli is used to playing so well.

It's how often he performs this feat that is so special. This milestone was reached on his 35th Birthday, in a World Cup 2023 match against South Africa. Kohli has scored 79 centuries across three different formats, including one T20I and 29 Test matches.

Kohli Sets Back-to-Back Records on His Special Day

Kohli scored 100 runs in an ODI against South Africa in Kolkata's Eden Gardens. It was his 119th ODI in which he scored 50 or more runs, breaking Kumar Sangakkara’s record of 118. Sachin Tendulkar is the all-time leader with 145 of these scores.

Kohli achieved another milestone during this match by scoring over 6000 runs in ODIs while playing at his home. He is now in second place, behind Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli also moved up in the Men's ODI World Cup Run-Scorers rankings by surpassing Kumar Sangakkara. This made him the third highest run-scorer of all Men's ODI World Cup Tournaments.

Kohli, who celebrated his 35th Birthday on Monday, has climbed up to the third spot in the all-time list of highest runs scored in Men's ODI World Cup. He is now behind Sachin Tendulkar, and Ricky Ponting.

He also joined a select group by exceeding 500 runs during a men's ODI World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma are the only other Indians to have achieved this feat.
