Brazilian Butt Lift: What Is It and How Long the Result Will Last

Brazilian Butt Lift: What Is It and How Long the Result Will Last
4 min read

If you've been seeking a solution to perfectly shape your buttocks and get the hourglass figure you've always desired, the Brazilian butt lift (BBL) could be the operation for you.

Here's all you should know about this safe and successful cosmetic surgery.

What Is a BBL?

This surgery, also known as safe subcutaneous buttock augmentation (SSBA), uses liposuction and augmentation to move fat from your body to your buttocks, adding fullness and creating a superior posterior.

Although referred to as a "lift," this surgery does not use the same principles as arm or thigh lifts. Unlike typical buttock lifts, which raise the buttocks by removing superfluous skin, the BBL takes excess fat from unwanted places. It uses it to create a more voluminous, curvy backside—and a more balanced and shapely overall appearance.

How Does the Procedure Work?

The Brazilian butt lift removes excess fat from regions where it is not desired and uses it to create a more voluminous, curvy backside.

For liposuction, your doctor will use a small tube called a cannula attached to a vacuum. This will remove excess fat cells from regions where they tend to gather, such as your tummy, hips, lower back, and thighs.

The extracted fat is subsequently cleaned, separated from the fluid, and placed in a syringe for transmission. Your doctor will then inject the fat precisely into the buttocks to improve their form and size.

In some circumstances, a portion of the transferred fat may not adhere to the relocation; therefore, surgeons may inject excess fat to ensure that the outcomes satisfy your expectations and objectives. Regrafting may become essential if the bulk of the cells do not survive.

Who Is a Good Candidate for BBL?

The greatest candidates for a BBL are people who want to improve their buttock contour, have lost their natural curves owing to aging or weight loss, and have enough fat pockets for grafting.

You should be generally healthy, free of illnesses, and able to withstand anesthesia and surgery. Other conditions may include regular exercise and diet, healthy and stable weight, and quitting smoking. Discuss your surgery requirements, options, and suggestions with your doctor.

What Is Recovery Like?

After your surgery, you will be unable to sit on your butt or sleep on your back for approximately two weeks or until the area has healed sufficiently. You may have swelling for several weeks, but the pain should be minimal. Your surgeon will discuss and possibly prescribe pain relievers. After one week, you can resume light everyday activities but avoid intense activity or lifting large objects.

Following this period, your surgeon will determine whether you are healed enough to sit on your buttocks with a donut seat or pillows under your thighs. You cannot resume regular sitting for about eight weeks, although you can return to work within 7 to 10 days.

It may take up to six months to fully recover and see the final results.

Results & How Long They Last?

By the end of your recovery, you should have more plump, perky buttocks, as well as a better body shape and proportion.

A Brazilian butt lift should last forever, but if the transfer does not hold, a patient may need more than one treatment to achieve the desired result. Typically, at the three-month mark, you may be very assured that the transfer was successfully bonded.

Weight fluctuations can have an impact on the results of the Brazilian butt lift procedure. If you gain weight, your buttocks may swell, but if you lose weight, they may shrink. Because the fat cells added to your buttocks might expand and shrink, staying at a consistent weight is best to maintain results. Including good fats in your diet throughout your early recovery period may aid in fat retention.
