Brendan Fraser's fans know that the shooting of "The Mummy" was a golden time for their idol. But even then, not everything in Brendan's life went smoothly. In a relatively recent interview, Fraser said that once because of the director's oversight almost did not part with his life! Fortunately, that time, everything turned out all right. Dangerous scene

Even among the devoted fans of "The Mummy" few can immediately remember the scene in which Brendan's character, the brave Captain O'Connell, wants to hang. And it was this minor episode that almost cost Frasier his life! You see, the first takes of the hanging scene seemed to the director unconvincing.

The actor recalls: "Stephen Sommers said that the shots fail. Asked to do another take and re-shoot the scene. I agreed. So the camera revolves around me, I stood on tiptoe, and the guy who was holding the rope, pulling it higher and higher. I, accordingly, have nowhere to go, my legs get tired, I involuntarily lower myself.

The cost of production

Fraser goes on to say, "So the guy with the rope keeps pulling it up. I'm going down. At some point my body couldn't take it, I blacked out. I opened my eyes and felt that I was lying on my side, my elbow I had landed on was hurting terribly and my teeth were crunching with gravel. Of course, at this point, filming had to be interrupted!

Rachel Weisz, who played librarian Evelyn Carnahan, said that Frasier didn't regain consciousness until after a CPR session. And the stunt coordinator, who actually saved the man's life, congratulated the actor as follows: "Now you are in the same club as Mel Gibson. He was in the same situation on the set of "Braveheart"!"

An unexpected contradiction

After waking up, Brendan went to rest, saying, "You - whatever, but I'm done for the day. The next day, however, the actor continued to shoot as if nothing had happened. No complaints to the director or stunt coordinator Fraser does not put forward even today. Nevertheless, director Stephen Sommers found it necessary to tell his version of what happened!

"Fraser tightened the noose properly to make it look as believable as possible. Then we started shooting the take and something went wrong. I'm guessing that the knot had pinched his carotid artery, and that had already made Brendan panic. Whatever the case, that's the situation he'd created for himself!"

And here's how Fraser reacted to such revelations of the director: "Sommersu had to show, sell the viewer that Rick, my character, really suffocates. So technically the fault is really mine. The fault is that I listened to instructions from my director. He answered briefly, but to the point!
