What You'll Need
If you're looking for a cozy blanket to keep you warm this winter, you can make one with fleece and flannel like Flannel Blanket. Below are the materials you'll need:
-Fleece blanket or fabric (enough to cover your body)
-Wool fabric (enough to cover the fleece blanket)
-Fabric glue or sewing machine needle and thread
-Ruler or measuring tape
-Scissors
-Stitch marker
-Polyester fiberfill (or batting)
1. Begin by measuring your desired blanket size. This will give you the total amount of fabric you'll need. You can either use fleece or wool fabric, whichever is more comfortable for you. The fabric should be at least twice the size of the fleece blanket. For this project, we used a Queen-sized fleece blanket and used 3 pieces of fabric measuring approximately 72 inches each by 36 inches. So our finished product would be 192 inches wide by 96 inches long. If using fleece, be sure to cut it into at least four pieces so it will lay flat when sewn together.
2. Next, measure out your wool fabric or fleece and mark out the measurement you want for your fleece.
3. Then, you know have the pieces of your blanket. The next thing you will do is to lay your pieces of fabric in a flat surface and lay the fleece blanket on top of the wool fabric. You can iron the fabric so that it is smooth and easy to flatten.
4. After, you can now sew the edges together. You can use sewing pins to pin the edges while you are sewing the other part of your blanket. Make sure that you sew the edges tightly for a more strong stitch. Your blanket is now complete!
